Called ahead to check they had some heat shrink I needed, was told it was definitely in stock, in the diameter and length I needed. Arrived to be told by sales person #1 that they didn't have it and wasn't sure if they ever stocked it. The shelves had some heat shrink but not the size discussed. I explained the conversation I had on the phone and asked if sales person #1 could ask around the office to find the unknown person I had spoken to on the phone, and hopefully their secret stash of heatshrink. Sales person #1 said '...anyone including the delivery drivers could have answered the phone...', shrugging off the request. I left dazed and confused as to what had happened.

Decided to go back in and insist sales person #1 ask around the office before I wasted my time driving elsewhere. Sales person #1 was visible in the office behind the counter taking a call so sales person #2 came out. I explained the story so far. Sales person #2 seemed confused at the thought that a delivery driver would ever take a call and happily went back to the office to check who had actually taken it. Returned to explain they normally have the heat shrink I needed but it was now out of stock and no one would confess to talking the call.

I briefly fantasised about ripping products from the shelves and stamping on them. Unrolling my eyes, I calmly left, drove back and ordered the parts on Amazon. A valuable lesson learnt.
