Sussex Solar installed solar water heating (tubes) for us 18 years ago in 2006 and then pv electrical solar panels in 2012. We were impressed with Andy's knowledge and service then, so when we moved to a bungalow with a south facing roof, Sussex Solar was the obvious choice to install a solar pv system for us. A solar energy company that has been in business continuously, with the same owner, Andy, for around 20 years is rare indeed!

Andy's experience and expertise showed when he surveyed our bungalow, and, unlike other companies who quoted, he pointed out the particular requirements of fixing panels to a slate roof compared to a tiled one. He was also happy to include Solaskirt pigeon protection which, we feel, looks neater than mesh on a low roof. Andy's quote wasn't the cheapest, but it was very reasonable and we only want to install this stuff once! Given our previous good experience we were happy to pay for confidence in the design and installation, and for taking care of all the paperwork and registrations required.

The installation of 15 panels and Tesla Powerwall was neat and efficient. The four guys were friendly and hard working, taking care with what they were doing even while installing black panels onto a south-facing black slate roof in blistering summer sunshine. The panels were up in two days, with one more day to finish off the electrics. We got no sense that they were rushing our job to get on to their next one. As we requested, the battery and inverter were installed neatly in the garage, as shown in the photos.
In summary, we were just as impressed by the knowledge and competence of this company and the care taken in this installation as we were in 2006 and 2012. The new system is working as expected, and we have every confidence that it will continue to do so for years to come thanks to Andy and the team.

I wanted solar panels and a battery so got estimates and surveys from three local companies, all Which Trusted Traders. Sussex Solar was not the cheapest but I was impressed by the more intelligent nature of my discussion with the boss on his survey visit and with all the other reviews. The work was commenced on the scheduled day by a team of four and despite the wet weather all outside work was completed on the first day, leaving one person to finish off all indoor work on the second day. The workers were all friendly and responsive to queries as things were proceeding. Throughout, communications with the office were also friendly and quick, so as a result my certificates and approvals from the power network were obtained without delay, enabling me to apply for an export tariff. The workers were more impressive than the regular and the system is working just fine. I'm left feeling confident that if there's any subsequent need for support that I would get a good response from the company.

Excellent service from the whole team, had a few quotes involving different number of panels and battery sizes.

During the installation changed my mind again and the guys were very flexible to accommodate.

Very neat work on the cabling all around the loft and down to the meter.

Had the array in for nearly a year now, it's generating slightly more than predicted and we've had a rubbish year for clouds.

The only annoyance was the delays in approval, no fault of the installer and they kept me informed and set realistic expectations of how slow it would be. Once approval was in place they were here the same week.

Was very keen to go for a local company that had been around since before the current flurry of new installers on the market.

Sussex Solar installed solar panels for us in March 2023 and a Tesla Powerwall in May 2023. The whole setup has worked flawlessly so far and we are very pleased with it.
