If the Government wants to understand why the country is short of 200,000 drivers and why the younger generation don't want to be hgv drivers, then head to an Amazon depot.
Disgusting toilets. Driver waiting areas are a disgrace.
Amazon staff talk to you as if you're a child.
And what is the point of having shunters on site if they seem to have difficulty understanding the role of a shunter. Shunters at ema1 spend most of their shift playing pool, but then again they can't reverse properly as it is.

I haven't got time to tell you how bad this place is just hope you never have to go it really is that bad I just can't understand the management and what they are thinking a dismal appalling set up all round

Absolutely shocking place. Drivers forced to stay in a driver lounge that stinks of raw sewage and is frequently used by loitering staff members skiving. Toilets are unisex and unfortunately covered in piss and skid-marks. No regard for drivers H&S. Not allowed to rest in cab. More staff walking around the place, talking and laughing, taking advantage of free coffee and multiple smoking breaks(every 10mins), zero working taking place. More banksmen and women than on a building site with 50 towercranes. According to a staff member, they have little space, so unloading multiple trucks at the same time doesn't happen. 3 staff in security and a separate staff member checking trailers. Makes no sense. How Amazon make money running a warehouse of this size is beyond me!!!! The only positive I have of my experience there, is getting out the gate (eventually after 3 1/2 hours of pure torture).

And by the way, the loss of the hours above has resulted in me been left with 50mins of driving time to try and find suitable parkkng facilities. (And don't even come back with Ferrybridge Services!!!)

Vehicle leaving Ferrybridge depot this morning at 0205 and obviously driver was either distracted or very tired as he or she decided to pull out onto the roundabout without any care or consideration for other road users almost causing an accident. Would contact the Amazon Hub to report this if there was a way of getting the telephone number for this hub.
