I am unsure why an otherwise good company would sign a contract with a devastating company such as HS2. This is killing the natural world from our grandkids. Rethink because it is a very short bit of wealth for your company. You are complicit to the largest land clearance since the war just for a rich man's vanity project to line each others pockets. You are stealing off of our children. No one wants a 200 billion pound train esp whilst children go hungry. Please look at the facts and not your profit. Have some morals.

The Good Points first;

'This company are: Community Focussed; Professional and Considerate'.

The reason for this low professional score is this;

This company (although H&S concious) were quite slovenly in their approach and application of the 3 storey corner building demolition on the junction of Hyde Way & Broadwater Road in Welwyn Garden City.

They had 3 men in high viz with hard hats and in radio communication between each other and the JCB operators during the demolition; during this pivotal demolition it looked like one vehicle had got in to difficulty and another vehicle had to aid it with the removal and what looked like a ton of masonry.

The building had netting erected inside the hording between the public and the site to catch small falling debris, but not the one ton masonry on the 3rd floor, which thankfully fell inside the site.

I was watching with other people and noticed that the men on the public footpath were shepparding the public past this demolition. The public footpath was just outside the hording. On a couple of occassions these men tried to stop the public walking past but they could not control all; infact one was trying to stop the public as he felt the process was too dangerous for the public (to be in such close proximity) as I could tell from his body language and emotion.

I also was concerned that John F Hunt was putting the public in mortal danger and I phoned the environmental health (at the local council) and the police as I felt there was risk of spontaneous imminent death.

What became evident to me was that John F Hunt had failed to extend the public footpath away from the hording and left it up to chance and guesswork that no one would die; no one was injured but the fact remains that although appearing to be health and safety professionals, they were quite cavalier in their handling of a potentially dangerous demolition.

There was no extended footpath and no safe clear route. It was very disappointing to see and I hope going forward John F Hunt can be more practicle in their application and handling when it comes to the general public in pivotal demolitions and the practical application of health and safety.

It is a shame really because of this bungling attempt at health and safety put hundreds of people in mortal danger; it looked to me like a 1970's approach.

Going forward I would hope John F Hunt can provide the correct assurance to the general public, through the practical application of health and safety, of which their notices claim to do.

My personal score for John F Hunt is 5/10.
