HIHI System Never Worked Reliably – Poor Support & No Accountability

We signed a 7-year contract with 4Com in 2019 for six HIHI handsets. From day one, the system never worked properly across all six units at the same time.

Between fault reports, we had to “make do and mend”, often swapping screens and bases around just to create working handsets. This meant disruption became our norm, and we eventually stopped logging every fault out of frustration, not because the issues were resolved.

When we formally complained, 4Com dismissed our concerns based on the low number of support tickets — ignoring the long-term pattern of failure and the workarounds we had to rely on just to keep our phones operational.

They sent an engineer in 2023 and offered a small goodwill discount. But the core system issues remained, and when we raised it again in 2025, they refused a refund, a discount, or to release us from the contract.

Even after going to the Communications Ombudsman, the complaint wasn’t upheld — not because the system worked, but because we hadn’t reported each issue in real time, which we feel misses the point entirely.

In short: the system never delivered, support was reactive and ineffective, and we’re now stuck in a long-term contract with no working solution.

Be very cautious before signing anything long-term with 4Com. Test everything thoroughly and log every fault, or you’ll have no recourse later.

Best to avoid this incompetent mob, especially their own brand HiHi hardware.
Continued issues with the phone system simply ignored. Request for complaints procedure ignored. Request for settlement figure ignored. Request for an alternative system ignored. A communications company that cannot communicate.
They trashed the reputable company that they bought out. They've trashed what could have been a good phone system. And now they're trashing my business and reputation. I'm gutted.

Please anybody looking at taking a phone system out with these people search through these reviews and sort by newest first. You will see the ever growing list of 1 star!
I took out a system in 2020 which i was lead to believe was 2 years but actually 7 years. After 2 years your price will almost treble unless you sign into another 7 years.
We are a small family business and we went from paying around ÂŁ150 with our previous supplier but by the end we were paying nearly ÂŁ700!
This business seriously needs investigating because its sales tactics are not right at all.
I really hope all these reviews help anybody looking at entering in to contract with 4com to steer well clear.

I just hope before anyone decides to sign up with this company they read the many negative reviews.
What an absolute con they are. They’ve made me ill.
So for many years my company where with Daisy Communication then out the blue I get contacted by someone from 4com telling me they would like to come in and see me as 4com have bought out daisy communications.
Few weeks later a sales bloke arrives telling me that this new package he was offering me what included a hihi system would cost me something like less than 50p a month extra. What an absolute lie.
First of all if you are seriously considering signing up to this shower get yourselves a lawyer to read the contract and the many small print what goes in it.
If your lucky enough to get jack the salesman to come and see you be prepared for him wanting to be your best friend and him thinking he cares about your business by offering you this fantastic deal. 5 years I was signing up for but nope 7 years locked in. Jack also made a point of FaceTiming his boss so we can negotiate the deal more in my favour. Totally staged! Just don’t be fooled by his friendliness or 4coms for that matter they are just out to rob you by signing up to this outrageous contract.
We are 12 months in and it’s gone up over £60 a month locked into a leasing company leasing the equipment for over £300 a month with 4com giving you about £80 back but once it comes to the 20 month mark you get nothing back and the cost will go up and up.
I’m a small business and my mate Jack has signed me up to a 7 year contract what will cost me over 25k for a telephone system what is worth a grand if that.
They are clever what they do but please if you’re considering signing up with them get a lawyer to read everything. I just trusted Jack as he was telling me to sign my life away or better still forget the lawyer and just don’t get involved with them.
STAY WELL CLEAR. You’ve been warned.

If I could give this company minus stars I would!! We have been lied to, fobbed off and I’m quite convinced they make their invoices up and take whatever they like from your bank account monthly, I was informed last week that I was in credit with them? How on earth do they figure these things out when it’s allegedly a fixed DD. Their accounts department can’t answer your billing questions either. We were left in a very worrying situation just before Christmas, we reached out to them for help only to discover that we had apparently entered into a 7 year contract!! We were most definitely under the understanding that it was maximum 2 years, like any other contract. The sales man did not state this at the point of sale and rushed us into putting pen to paper, we are in the unfortunate position of having to keep trying to come to an agreement with them due to circumstances out of our control, essentially, we have no choice. If anyone has been successful in fighting them, please get in touch, we would be most grateful for some support. Please do not sign anything, the paperwork is very different from the promises that come from the salesperson. The stress this company has placed on us is unimaginable. I’m also wondering if this is a case for Watchdog to investigate It seems there are many of us that have been lied to and ripped off!

Worst Telecom Experience Ever - DO NOT USE!!!

I don’t even know where to begin with how shockingly awful 4 Com is. Their service is a complete joke – constant outages, painfully slow to get through, dropped calls, and customer service that is abysmal, even after being a customer for years.

Trying to get any help is like yelling into a void. You’ll be stuck in a queue for 45 minutes just to speak to someone who clearly couldn’t care less no matter if their junior staff or "managers". They’ll promise you call backs that never happen, close tickets without resolving anything and ignore your emails.

Their billing department? A circus. Random charges, double billing and even when a bill is in dispute with constant reminders until they suspend your line, good luck trying to get any of it explained. They’re quick to take and chase your money, but if you need a refund for services they didn’t even deliver, expect to fight for weeks.

I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy. I genuinely don’t know how they’re still in business. Total incompetence from top to bottom. You are better literally going anywhere else!

Our experience with 4Com has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. A pushy salesperson turned up at our business, presented a phone system at £136/month, and assured us that anything agreed on the day would be subject to approval after testing the equipment—especially to confirm it would integrate with our CRM system.

I (the Managing Director) had to leave the meeting, and the salesperson was left speaking with a project manager—who clearly does not have authority to sign contracts. Despite this, the rep proceeded to get him to sign multiple legally binding agreements without proper review or consent.

No paperwork was left with us, and when I returned the following week and began requesting the documents, it took several days and multiple calls to finally discover the contracts buried in our spam folder. By this point, the equipment had already been delivered and connected—completely undermining the “trial” we were promised.

This feels like a classic case of high-pressure, misleading sales tactics targeting small businesses. We’re now locked into a contract that was never properly authorised and signed under false pretences. Communication has been slow, dismissive, and focused more on enforcing the contract than addressing genuine concerns.

I strongly advise any other business owners to be extremely cautious when dealing with 4Com. Make sure every promise is in writing and do not allow junior staff to engage with their sales reps unsupervised

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!
unfortunately we are still currently with 4COM due to the lies they fed us with when renewing with them and the amount it would cost to get out of the contract. we were told by the sales member that our old contract would be terminated and would not be moved over to the new one which worked out cheaper and better for our small family run business. however, this was not the case. once we had signed up to the new contract it turned out that they moved the old contract over with the new one which meant we were now paying for 2 contracts which is costing us an absolute fortune causing many financial issues to our business.

This company is by far the worst i have dealt with in the 20 years i have been working hear.
