Rejoined Utilita five days ago, I was with them around 5 years ago for a long time and I never had any issues back then, they used to be really good. This time round I'm already having loads of problems with them.

They took a full week to be able to set up an account with me, but aren't able to connect to my smart meter until an engineer comes out a full month after I signed up which isn't the best.

My energy is now supposed to be based on estimated readings. I've put ÂŁ200 on my gas meter in two days. I live alone and haven't turned the heating on once because we're right in the middle of summer. It's showing as I've spent the ÂŁ200 already (in 5 days) and I'm well into emergency credit apparently. Not able to contact them easily as it's the weekend and they aren't open until week days (I'm at work through the week so god knows how I'm going to get this sorted). I'm now at risk of my energy supply being cut off, what an absolute joke!

Absolute disgrace of a company. I switched from british gas to utilita as i had been with utilita previously on a pay as you go and hadn't had any problems oh well don't i regret that now. I had some guy knock on my door think it was the ceo of the company looked very much like him. Over the 10 days of waiting for the engineer to install the new meters apparently i used over ÂŁ480 of gas and electric, i mean there is me and my 2 young children but there is no way i wouldve used nearly ÂŁ500 in the space of 10 days. They have been taking ÂŁ199.62 so ÂŁ175 for what i use every month and then ÂŁ25 extra for the "debt" so i have paid ÂŁ375 of this so called debt back for the past 12 months. They really do not care about their customers and it shows. How they havent been shut down is crazy to me. Whether they have got the meter readings wrong or they are purposely taking my money from me either way its disgusting and so so wrong especially for a utility provider , i haven't even seen a paper copy or anything in writing that i owed this money to them. So for all i know its all lies to get more money out of me its absolutely vile . Also when i emailed the ceo and customer service i eventually after about a month or two got a reply from the customer services basically saying absolutely nothing and didn't get resolved one bit. I will be taking this further as this company obviously don't like admitting there wrong doings and i will make sure im compensated for the "debt" they have took out my bank for the past 12 months i still have another 5 months of this so called debt and even then i think they will still take the debt out my bank. Will be switching provider asap

Update: took 3 weeks to send my top up cards, faulty meter took 2 weeks to change. I still can’t top up because it says my account doesn’t exist, topped up eventually at a shop(on an card) and my money didn’t go on my account. Still haven’t got that back. I’m still leaving because they’re awful

Would not recommend to anyone. Been trying to top up/ get help for 7 days, nobody answers, web chat never responds, always a “technical error”

Top up cards they gave me do NOT work. E - cred ran out because of constant error, technical faults and wrong cards so couldn’t top up even if I wanted too!

I have never experienced so much stress from 1 company IN MY LIFE. Will be paying my bills owed and leaving for another. Worst company I’ve dealt with in a very long time!

Changed name from my deceased father to keep the account when moving back home, passed about so many times after 45 mins the agent said she was passing me to the correct department but sent me right back to the beginning at the options. Hung up in the end. Aparantly because I only changed the name and not closed the account I am responsible for £150 debt on the metre. Zero help and zero customer service, you can’t even understand them half the time!

Appalling company and you feel totally invalid as a customer. Endless calls, messages, online chat to resolve an issue regarding a payment debited from our meter. It's a nominal amount of ÂŁ20 but, it's our money! You are pushed from one overseas call centre rep to another. You get no where. They do not grasp what's happened, do not action issues, do not REFUND after eventually agreeing that a payment should not have been debited! You get put thru the Dept 'who can authorise payment' but, another 1.5 hours on the call you get no where again. It's pretty criminal to be honest. I feel so sorry for those with limited funds, and drawing a line under their losses, as you are not heard. How have we become a country ( UK) who tolerates this and believes it's an acceptable way to deal with customers.
I'm exhausted with dealing with them.
Even though Utilita are currently slightly cheaper as an energy provider, I will cut losses and move to another company with better customer service. I suggest anyone reading this, does the same.

Absolutely terrible company who are stealing from customers. I changed to utilita as a colleague said they wasn’t expensive I believe they had some incentive to get me to join the ponsy scheme that is utilita. My electric went up by minimum 200 per month I don’t know how they are still in business they need investigating for fraudulent charges. I would never advise a person to use this company I’ve ended up in serious energy debt I would check my electric daily and couldn’t understand how the electric is being here when I’m out all day. THEY ARE A SCAMMER COMPANY PLEASE DON’T EVEN USE THEM every review is terrible pls take the warnings you see here serious worst experience of my life I was panicking and struggling to find the crazy amounts they would concoct.AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Absolutely awful company. Objects to my switching to another provider due to an "outstanding balance".

After practically two days of calls no-one seems to be able to tell me how much this amount is as I am prepared to pay it.

Apparently you are their "customer" when you are not . . .

The customer service in non existence. I have tried the live chat and tried to call and sent email. No reply for the email. No answer on the phone call just some poxy music for well over 45 mins and on the live chat for over an hour. My problem is the smart screen display in correct. I feel for those who have children that have no gas or electricity. Absolutely disgusting service.
