We chose Interglow for loft insulation and cavity wall insulation as part of the Green Homes Grant scheme. Initially, they looked capable of doing the job and we agreed on a date of installation.

When they came they first installed the loft insulation on which they did a decent job. However, when it came time to do the cavity wall insulation, Interglow did a disaster of a job, to put it mildly. They started by putting the insulation into the cavity of one of the walls of the house. This wall has a balanced flue gas fireplace fitted into it (which Interglow were well aware of) and soon after they started pumping the mineral wool insulation into the cavity, the insulation started coming from the fireplace into the room. The installers stopped, tried to investigate, made some photos of the cavity around the fireplace and said they will come back to us with more information. Later, Interglow concluded that they had never come across such a problem and that somewhere there is a hole from where the insulation leaks from the cavity into the fireplace. They also said that they would be able to continue the job on another day once this problem is fixed by a gas engineer.

After a couple of weeks, we decided to change Interglow as a cavity wall insulation contractor with another trader, as Interglow proved spectacularly incapable of properly communicating with us and declined to come to our house and meet with our gas engineer to discuss the problem they discovered. Fast forward a few months and time came for the new trader we chose to install the cavity wall insulation. As part of the preparation for the job, we had a fireplace fitter to fix the problem with sealing the space behind the fireplace from the rest of the cavity (the problem Interglow discovered) so we don’t have the same problem with insulation going into the fireplace. The guys removed the old fireplace and to a massive surprise, we found that the space behind the fireplace is properly sealed and that one of the holes which Interglow drilled to install the cavity wall insulation is straight into the space behind the fireplace just underneath the flue which is clearly visible from outside where they drilled (you can see this on two of the pictures in this review where the hole is in red circle). So the Interglow guys pumped insulation straight into the space behind the fireplace (and not into the cavity) and from there the insulation went into the fireplace (and into the living room) from around the gas connector of the fireplace (pretty much every fireplace has a bit of space around the pipe where it is connected to the gas mains). After doing all this, Interglow said that they couldn’t understand why the insulation went into the fireplace. Actually, we were lucky that when the Interglow guys drilled behind the fireplace they didn’t make a hole into the fireplace body, as this could’ve been really dangerous. And on top of all this shambles, Interglow’s ineptitude cost us quite a lot of money, time and nerves.

The described above sounds sad and surreal but, unfortunately, this is exactly the work Interglow has delivered to us. I can't talk about the whole range of service Interglow claim they have expertise (as I said in the beginning they did not do a bad job when insulation our loft), but definitely, Interglow have zero expertise on cavity wall insulation and they don’t know what they are doing when it comes to insulating cavity walls. Also, their skills when it comes to communication with customers are no better than their skills when it comes to insulating cavity walls.

We, of course, have already contacted the organisations who have approved Interglow, or have Interglow listed as a cavity wall insulation contractor and I hope they will take appropriate actions at the earliest opportunity, so other people don’t end up in a situation like the one I described above.

So, the conclusion is to avoid Interglow if you are planning to install cavity wall insulation. There are much better contractors out there (most of them are) that can actually do the job for you.

Had my loft insulation done, everyone professional and friendly and pleased with the outcome. Very easy to do business with and not too long to wait for installation (~1 week). Competitive pricing.

Interglow were helpful when I called about my requirement for loft insulation. They answered questions in a way I could easily understand. There was no pressure to progress with work but, once I had made my own decision, informed by what they had to tell me, they sent a fitter who arrived on time. He observed safety protocols in respect of covid - wore a mask and was careful to social distance. He was polite and respectful of our property - putting down dust sheets to keep our carpets clean. He worked non-stop alone, gave a summary of what he had done, invited inspection and we are very pleased with the outcome. A Trustmark certificate was provided by the company.

This is ridiculous and pathetic agency assigned by councils agent Osborne for EPC. They gave consecutive 3 weeks for a day appointment and we took unpaid day offs for them and they failed to attend any of those and we lost earnings for 3 days. No one forcing them to do this job. They are highly paid by Dacorum council but their service is very very poor and disappointing.
My humble request to any council NOT TO RECRUIT THIS AGENCY EVER.

I Used Interglow to carry out a EPC on our property due to selling our home and it had run out, at the time of the check being done it was assumed the walls were solid brick. We were then informed by a surveyor that it was actually cavity wall, which was then proved by removing 2 core hole vents which went though the walls. When Interglow were informed of this and proof sent via photos they disregarded this fact and were unwilling to accept this was the case due to the brick formation of the property, and unwilling to re check and up update the EPC. It wasn’t until we looked to get this re done by another assessor they finally accepted to re visit and re look at the walls. But even though we had 2 core hole vents to prove the property was cavity wall and insulated they still thought it necessary to drill a hole in our wall to check for themselves and charge for the work.

These guys came to do a survey for a quote for cavity wall insulation. They couldn't drill into the wall with their drill bit as it was too blunt so had to borrow a drill bit from me. Despite several emails, they simply never got back to me with a quote. Very poor service. Their loss!

Interglow installed new loft insulation and were great. Got back to me quickly, arrived on time for both the quote and the job, and did an efficient, professional job. The loft looks great!

Interglow came out to do a quote for us on 12/10, a month and a half later, despite several chasing calls, I have not received a quote for the work. I wouldn't bother wasting your time with them.
