Sold a lie!

After being approached and called numerous times over the past few months with promises of extremely fast speeds I decided to call and was promptly signed up by their sales team.

The Team assured me that they would get an engineer out the following week to get us all connected. Fibre to the Premises no less!

I couldn't believe it! Surely they are not going to be able to dig up the road or tap into the electricity grids system? I voiced my concerns and was told not to worry they will get the fibre to my house - well ok then!

Fast forward 3 weeks after the engineer said sure we will get permission and use the telegraph poles I call up to check where we are; "sorry we have deemed it too expensive and cancelled your account".

Gobsmacked I said were you planning 9on telling me? "oh yeah we would have got around to it".

Unbelievably bad service and pathetic excuse - why even bother wasting peoples time at this point?

Airband is very much like a British beach. It's all very appealing and enjoyable when the sun is out and the weather is good. But as soon as there's a breeze or grey clouds, it's about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Couple the lack of resilience with awful customer service and you have a perfect storm.

In short: not good, you'd do better to invest in a decent mobile data connection. I basically supplement my Airband agreement with O2 5G because I can't rely on the fibre.

Airband is not a good option.

Internet connection is variable. Seems on bad weather it’s awful . Need to reset the box frequently. Does cope most of the time with the family demands but is very variable. No better or worse than other companies I’ve tried. Airband claim to support those who are rural, think they have some way to go to truly meet this demand.

Been with Airband two years and never a problem. Now with my new additional connection - endless issues and nobody can come out and fix it. August 01 they say when the property in question is a motel with bookings through this period...
So need an emergency engineer visit immediately please,!

I have been having issues with airband now since I recieved it i gave the benefit of the doubt thought it maybe because it is a new service I am lucky if I can get 3mb and I am supposed to be getting 150mb, now I have no Internet at all and airband don't have out of hours which they should have for cases like this. Also I got my first invoice I signed up for £16 per month with everything else free well that wasn't true as my bill is coming up to £44 and apparently I have to pay for everything else appart from the instalation. That would be classed as false advertising which is illegal. I am really really unhappy I also have a son who is homeschooled and he needs the Internet at full capacity and he is now dropping in and out of classes because the Internet is forever dropping.

Awful customer service and total inability to talk to anyone in their technical team. The following is taken from an email sent to their customer service on the 14th of July, to which I have not as yet even received the courtesy of a reply:

Good evening,
Your support team suggested writing to you regarding the ongoing issues that we have experienced and the cause discovered by your engineers who visited our property Friday week ago.

Last year, following a prolonged outage, 6weeks in duration I believe it was, your engineers confirmed my suspicions that the SIM in the receiver had died. We were told that along with replacing the SIM, we had been moved across from EE to O2 , which given that both our phones are on O2 and get great reception, should have given us much more reliable broadband connectivity.

In short it didn't and ever since, we have had repeated outages, temporary dropouts and an unusable service from Airband culminating in it once again packing up altogether. On calling your service desk, I was told that, "in view of all the problems that we were having, Airband might just withdraw the service" rather than trying to resolve it. I pointed out that it wasn't an O2 signal strength issue as we were having to use our O2 mobiles as hotspots for streaming, vpn connectivity back to the office as well as for a Google TV device.

A visit was finally scheduled. On your engineer's last visit, they discovered that although last year, the receiver had been configured to use O2, the SIM was still an EE SIM and had not in fact been replaced! They were unsure how it had worked at all, but would certainly explain the almost permanently poor connectivity that we have experienced over the last 8 months or so.

I would never recommend you as an ISP, there have been too many mistakes leaving us struggling for months. If there wa a viable alternative, we would have jumped ship months ago. Skylink are supplying their kit for free in our area, and we are very tempted.

If you are serious about keeping long term customers such as ourselves, you need to be employing more field engineers, have service desk staff who have some technical knowledge rather than just logging and dropping and also offer some means of talking to your third line. A few more field engineers wouldn't go amiss either. Yes they are expensive, but if you wish to maintain any kind of reputation, I would suggest that you look at retaining existing staff and growing that team.
I look forward to hearing what ideas you have regarding compensating us for the frustrations, costs in running up mobile data bills and inconvenience that you have caused us over the last year.

8 days at least without broadband from these guys. Went out on Wednesday and the earliest they will send someone to fix it is Thursday the following week when they have “someone in the area”. I’ve never had that from any other providers in the past.
Customer service whilst polite and not outsourced overseas yet, are powerless to help and promises of escalation or a response from a manager and not kept.
Will be looking at alternative providers soon

The only provider in my area for fibre optic. Fast speeds and never had an issue with it, previously been with sky and BT both major issues constantly. Also easy to get hold of an actual person to talk to. Good customer service.
