I spent a number of months looking around for a solar panel installation. I had a few surveys from companies that came up on the internet. Astrum Energy had positive reviews too so I asked for a survey and quote. Not only did Astrum beat all the people I saw/spoke to 'hands down' for customer service, they were also the best value for money. Price was not the main factor for my choice, it was to get a decent system in at a decent price. Saying that, they were the cheapest!

Andy from Astrum Energy talked me through the options in a hassle-free style. He clearly knows his stuff and unlike the other (sales) people I felt confident he would deliver accordingly. I've just gone 'live' and it couldn't have gone any smoother! Andy talked me through everything that was going to happen, checked on progress and even sat down to talk me through the reams of paperwork to get my FIT application through. Highly recommended!

We've had a solar pv system installed by Astrum this week, and I can only say that the experience from start to finish has been first class.

We initially had several quotes from different suppliers, some annoying hard sell salesmen etc., but the thing I liked about Astrum was their quote was good value, no nonsense, no hard sell, and no pressure or hassling afterwards. The quote process was quick and easy, Andy from Astrum came and measured up our roof from the ground with laser measuring equipment, we talked about the options, and agreed on the right system for us, all in about 30 mins.

The install has been quick and very professional and the guys from Astrum have been brilliant - always here when they say they will be, no mess or fuss, always taking care when inside the house with shoe covers etc. I cannot praise them enough.

I will be recommending them to all my friends and family, as it's rare these days to get such good quality service and value from anywhere.

I had a system installed by Andy around a year ago. Very laid-back, no pressure unlike other quotes I had which was fantastic and gave me confidence. Nothing is too much trouble and the installation process was very straightforward. A year in and everything is still working beautifully, the 10 year payback period suggested in the proposal now already beginning to look pessimistic.
An excellent local company, I cannot recommend them highly enough!

We have had our Astrum - installed 4KW solar system for a couple of months - time to let it shake down (an unfortunate phrase perhaps!).

This review might appear more balanced if I could report a problem or two, but for any cynics out there I'm afraid I can't.

The biggest initial surprise was that while Astrum is smaller than the big national companies and their economies of scale, it beat them on price whilst still providing the excellent personal, quality service you would hope for from a local company.

An initial site visit for a survey and discussion was quickly followed by a written, comprehensive quotation. That included an Apollo Gem Energy Manager that diverts excess generated electricity to the immersion heater to heat the hot water. Only when that is up to temperature does the Energy Manager allow excess electricity to flow to the National Grid. (It blocks the immersion heater from using any expensive mains electricity, so no worry there). As you are paid for exporting a standard 50% of your generated electricity anyway (on top of the Feed In Tariff) this hot water heating is a significant free bonus for a very modest capital outlay compared to a solar water panel. We have turned our central hot water heating boiler off for the summer.

Andy from Astrum led the installation team, assisted by the electrician Simon. The two day exercise was conducted in an air of friendly, professional competence. The attitude appeared to be that if they could possibly do anything to help, to make the customer even more satisfied, then that is what they would do. From beginning to end this was a professional job of the highest order.

There were no hidden charges; the final bill was what we were quoted.

Great service, competitive price, no problems what so ever after 2 months of generating up to 3.89 KW (you do become a meter-watcher!), and free hot water. What's not to like? Thoroughly recommended.
