Paul went out his way to assist in helping me from what was meant to be a simple gas refill to end up being. Supplying a modified adaptor to fit a larger co2 bottle to my beer pump. As my bottle was small, so due to his mighty efforts, I can on this bank holiday weekend enjoy a cold beer from my beer pump. Thanks affordable gas supplies and especially the efforts from Paul. Would recommend them anytime.

*Awful customer service and bad welding gas*

I have been a customer with Affordable Gas Supplies for roughly 2 years but have just stopped getting my gas from there due to contamination of the gas. They get their gas bottles from Adam's Gas for reference.

I have had a 2 bottles of bad gas of which I swapped a bottle with them and still was having problems with shielding on stainless steel. Before swapping the bottle I bought all new equipment (bar the welder itself) to try and diagnose any issues with air lines etc. I even bought a new torch which is not cheap!

After purchasing and installing all new hardware I was still having said problems. I was going to send off my welder but chose to use a friend's gas bottle from SGS.

I changed the bottle only and straight away you could tell the gas had made a considerable difference and was welding like it should be with the proper shielding. I will attach a photo to this review if possible.

I contacted Paul at Affordable Gas Supplies and he said it will have to be taken for testing at Adam's Gas. I offered to take it there but he said he can take it there at the end of the month when he takes all his empty bottles to restock. At this point he did not mention any fees relating to testing or taking the bottle to Adam's Gas depo in Margate.

Forward on a few weeks, the bottle gets tested and came back with ‘no contamination whatsoever and no ingress of water within the valve’. To check this the bottle needs to be completely emptied as the valve is removed.

Paul then informed me the bottle wasn't contaminated and if I had 2 options. He can refund me my deposit (not for the gas which was 90% full) minus the cost of taking the bottle there and for testing. This cost should have been made aware to me before I gave the bottle back to Paul. Poor communication and disregard to customer service.

The second option was that my bottle can be returned to me minus the cost of picking the bottle up (another £30 + VAT). But surely this isn't possible as the bottle was completely emptied for testing? So either the bottle wasn't properly tested or it was never tested.

I have requested the test information to be emailed to me as I was not there to witness testing in person.

I questioned with Paul why he didn't inform me that he would charge me to take my bottle for testing when he said he is happy to take it when he takes his other bottles and was going there anyway, to which he replied that it was inevitable. I was happy to take my bottle straight away and pay my own travel costs rather than wait 3 weeks for Paul to take it.

I am utterly disappointed in Paul from Affordable Gas Supplies and his lack of customer service. I am out of pocket for the gas which again at 50 litres isn't cheap, all the equipment that was bought to diagnose shielding problems and mostly importantly my time.

I will never reccomend Affordable Gas Supplies to anyone ever and will suggest avoiding Adam's Gas.

For all those wondering where I have switched to, it's SGS Gas and I've had no problems with contaminated gas.

Excellent service, I bought mig welding gas and when that bottle has run out you just take it back and pay for a new refilled bottle, perfect.
