We paid AJA electrical services their written quote for remedial works to make the flat safe. They told us they had carried out the works which included rewiring of a faulty socket and putting up lights. Our agent had given them over 20 other instructions as their new appointed and qualified electrician.

However, we were very shocked to learn recently that AJA electrical services didn't do any of the work they quotes. Two NIEICI registered electricians have recently inspected that flat and have confirmed in their reports that the rewiring of the socket circuit which is unearthed and therefore dangerous still needs to be done. They also confirmed that no un-earthed light fittings were changed. We were therefore shocked to learn that a registered electrician AJA electrical could certify this is safe and issue us a certificate making us believe he had done the work but hadn't. He charged almost £790 with a certificate saying everything was safe putting others at risk. The other electricians have quoted us £590 and £620 for the same work which still needs to be done meaning we will have to pay it again. We have reported this to NIECI. We asked AJA electrical to send us photos of the work claimed to have been done, or return to complete it but our emails have been ignored and we received a reply in a text where they surprisingly and argumentatively claim to have done the work, and so aren't willing to return or refund any monies. We will therefore be issuing proceedings for the refund of our money and will provide an update in due course. Please be cautious of electricians who claim to have done work but haven't, or seek payment following the issue of documents leading you to believe they have done all the works, especially if you don't live at the property, or if you have tenants, or aren't able to inspect the work personally each time.
