Lovely park, wandering along the paths, seeing where they go, cafe very good.
Take care at the car park on the right before the visitor centre, large pot hole, tried to avoid not realising that the green bollard on the left has a piece sticking out which scraped the side of my car. Need yellow warning tape on

Lovely country park. The paths are well maintained & clear. There are some smaller paths through woodland as well as open stone paths. I parked at the whitebarn car parkv(free), took my dogs for a long off lead walk to the heritage centre. I had a coffee & a tasty flapjack at the centre before walking back. The paths I went on were quite hilly & it could have done with better signage, the paths are obvious but I had to hope I was heading in right direction to cafe. The dogs really enjoyed it & I would recommend.

I haven't been down Apedale for a few years so decided to go and have a walk around to see what's changed and what a surprise I got ( in a good way ) the walk was well worth it .
The heritage centre was open and steam trains were running also a well stocked cafe , amazing to see such trains been well looked after and running with passengers on board. Walk around Apedale itself was lovely but must admit I didn't go all the way around, but I will soon .
I could carry on talking about this lovely place. Dog friendly and also a great place to take the kids . Plenty to see & do .

It's a good place for a walk or bikeride. Carpark was free and easy to find. There are toilets which is always handy. Not been to the free museum but we had a cuppa tea, flapjacks and an oatcake from the cafe which was nice after a walk.

This is a beautiful country walk in the middle of the busy Newcastle Borough. It feels like you are far away from the hustle and bustle of daily, city life. There are many different walks available to take and I have been going there for a couple of years but still find new parts to explore. It does state that dogs must be on a lead around the cafe, visitor centres and the miniature railway, obviously, and in a few areas it states dogs must be under close control. To be honest as soon as I am away from the car park areas, of which there are two, I always let my dogs off and providing they don't cause any problems for anyone I've never experienced any negativity. There are toilets in the cafe area but during Covid these have been closed. Apedale gets quite busy at the weekends as it is such a beautiful place to visit, but in the week it is usually very tranquil with only a few dog walkers or joggers. I definitely would give Apedale a visit if you have never been.

Very impressed with the cafe and museum. Theres even a train there that starts to run in the spring and you can go on an underground mine tour which was open yesterday. Didn't expect all these things as we just looking for somewhere different to walk (we are from Newport Shropshire) and impressed with the different things the country park offered plus free parking. Excellent food in the cafe at a good price and very nice people who work there. Museum was free and very informative, lots of interesting displays. Lots of walks. We parked at the top car park and walked down to cafe. All easily accessible. Will be back to do a mine tour and go on the trains in the spring. (Baked pot with tuna mayo £3.50, very good choc brownie £1.50. Plus various hot puddings!)

It was my first experience of Apedale and I thought it was great. We did a decent 10k walk and had a cuppa at the heritage centre. We'll definately be going again; the dog had great walk.
