DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ASBESTOS REMOVAL

We hired this company to removal chrysotile asbestos floor tiling in our new house. When we first contacted this company, we explained we had no experience or knowledge in this area and sought their expertise to understand the removal process.

As part of the service, we were promised an environmental clean of the area after removal to ensure there would be no hazardous material left.

After the workman removed the tiles, he informed us there was bitumen backing underneath that highly likely contained asbestos and that this is very commonly found under chrysotile. He only informed us of this after completing the full job, even though we were present in the house throughout. I rang the company to check the cost to remove the bitumen, and was quoted another £550 - however, they informed me that the total price to remove the backing and the tiling in one go would have been £650 total, just a £100 difference.

The company clearly has the experience to know bitumen backing was highly likely underneath the tiles, and yet we were not advised as such. When we queried why we weren’t informed of this, Glen from the company, stated that they always double check with their clients if there is bitumen backing underneath before commencing work. At no point in the process were we asked or given this piece of crucial information which we feel was negligent and untransparent.

The most concerning part of our experience was finding pieces of asbestos tile left around the room including on our windowsill, and the room left dusty from the removal, clearly indicating that the environmental clean had not been carried out diligently, if at all. This is an extremely concerning health risk.

Upon raising these concerns with Glen from the company, he was unapologetic and completely nonchalant about the remaining debris. He was extremely unhelpful and unsympathetic to our concerns about the lack of the environmental clean and stated we should have informed him about the bitumen backing. He made no effort to resolve the issue and didn’t take the health concerns seriously.

If you are at all worried about your health and safety I would strongly advise against this company.
