Couldn't recommend more highly - we contracted Bristol Sustainable Building Company for the installation of a limecrete floor, and they were very professional, great communication, and very enjoyable to work with. They were happy for us to participate and to teach us the ropes, as well as giving us advice/training on other work, such as repointing. Using Bristol Sustainable Builders for a major renovation of our quirky bungalow was the best decision of the whole project. We have enjoyed every moment of the build and this is entirely down to Dan and the BSB team.
The guys are great to work with: the communication, organisation & quality of workman ship was excellent throughout, nothing was every too much trouble & their work ethos admirable.
They delivered simple cost effective, quality solutions to a number of tricky design problems. The overall finish on the job and the way the job has run equals great value for money. The weekly progress reports were an invaluable tool in controlling costs.
They have made an amazing space for our home and we have no hesitation in recommending BSB & will be using them in the future for stage two.

What a great team! I am in the midst of a slow, full, eco-renovation of a damp, neglected terraced house in Easton, doing a good chunk of the work myself along with my housemate and in collaboration with various tradespeople.

I needed some more experienced house-wranglers to remove the spine wall in a building-friendly, structurally sensitive way, whilst being aware of my future plans to install a limecrete floor (which I felt may affect the process/detailing in ways I couldn't fully understand yet with my current level of knowledge; nor communicate to a more 'standard' building company with any certainty) Dan.S generously offered some incredibly helpful advice which gave me confidence to take down some of the adjacent (non load-bearing) walls myself prior to their team arriving, which definitely helped reduce the cost and avoid some head-scratching on our part.

Dan, Dan, Arnaud & Neil from Bristol Sustainable Building Co made the whole process enjoyable, smooth and straightforward. I vastly appreciate how these guys really listen and are supportive in their approach, whilst also managing to be organised and highly efficient at getting the job done. I was very happy to find that I was welcome to assist and get stuck in as I have with the rest of the house, which made the whole experience much more fulfilling and empowering.

I found the guys considerate, kind, knowledgable, honest, sincere and hard working. I was worried about the cost initially due to a more extensive design being recommended by the structural engineer. Having experienced working with them, I believe this team to be very good value; working to a high ethical and quality standard, with good scheduling and efficiency. They took my initial uncertainty and concerns into consideration, doing everything they could to make things run smoothly whilst being flexible and accessible - something invaluable for those of us who have limited budgets, but want to be good 'building custodians' and aspire to do things to as high a standard as possible.

All in all I am incredibly happy with the process and results of working with this lovely company.

We choose The Bristol Sustainable Building Co for our major renovation and retrofit project, which included a 35 sq meter extension and a new roof on the main house. Having come into the build as a complete novice (irrelevant aerospace knowledge didn't really help), I found the boys were extremely patient and more than happy to explain the pros and cons of various options.
They are extremely dedicated to the cause and have really had a long hard think about the question 'how do you most efficiently maintain and heat your home?'.
It's very easy to google various snazzy solutions on the internet and get very excited about them! When you would discuss these wondrous gadgets with the boys, you'd realise that perhaps holistically, the item(s) in question might not be as suitable as you thought. I think it was that calm rational and honest discussion which I found most helpful during this major project. After 1 year sweating away with the boys from The Bristol Sustainable Building Co not only do I not have any complaints but we've come away firm friends.
