So you can do the loop around the dams even though Google suggests otherwise. They working on the bridge but you allowed to walk across if you can find a spot to park. So worth parking and talking to lads about the work they doing. Super impressed with divers. Brave men.

Just a stunning location with beautiful views. The roads up to and over the mountain are just fantastic. Not necessarily for speed freaks, but possibly more for a slight challenge with awesome views on the way over to Devil's Bridge 😘👌

This is just one of the five amazing dams at beautiful Elan valley. There is very little water in these reservoirs currently as is the case in most areas. So the landscape looks dry but it is very beautiful still. The visitor centre is a good place to begin and we brought bicycles to explore the quiet little roads that follow the reservoirs of Elan valley

We parked at the Elan Valley Visiter Centre (£3 park all day), grabbed a coffee and then walked along to Caban Côch. Due to lack of rainfall the reservoirs are very low so there are no waterfalls flowing but the dams themselves are just stunning. We then continued walking to the next dam from here. You can also drive to all the dams as well (we did drive to see the furthest dams - weather was poor!)

Unusual design for a dam, with the overflow spilling over the entire dam structure.

Beautiful dam, situated in even prettier Welsh countryside. Completely free to visit, parking is very cheap. £3 for all day (March 2024).

Caban Coch Dam is an absolutely stunning location, offering breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. The scenic surroundings, especially during autumn, are spectacular with vibrant foliage and serene waters. The engineering of the dam is impressive and blends beautifully with the natural landscape.
