From the Grenfell Enquiry where 71 people lost their lives:

“Celotex’s product, RS5000, was tested and marketed in a “dishonest and cynical way”, which “reflected a culture within Celotex stretching back to at least 2009”. The company had been acquired by Saint-Gobain in 2015, which aimed to boost profits from new products, of which RS5000 was one.

“Celotex embarked on a dishonest scheme to mislead its customers and the wider market,” the inquiry found. The Building Research Establishment, the privatised former government test facility, was complicit when it allowed the inclusion of a fire-retardant board in a test in May 2014 to improve performance.

“Celotex presented RS5000 to Harley [Facades construction company] as suitable and safe for use on Grenfell Tower, although it knew that was not the case.”

A great technical help line! Extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Told me where to find the relevant building regulations so that I could convince my builder to install the correct thickness of product.

Used this stuff for insulating under a UH system, Recticel was specified, but the builder suggested I use Celotex as he could pick this up from CCF, boards were delivered and were all bowed and sent back. This was a pain as caused aggro, but I phoned up CCF and they said that they were replacing the boards. These arrived and were bowed also. In the end I gave up and ordered the Recticel boards from another supplier, these were perfect. All in all, cost me time money and aggro, NEVER USE THESE!

We have used Celotex for supplying us with FI5000 Insulation for projects that require underfloor heating for a number of years. It has a vapour barrier which is ideal for underfloor heating and is a time saver as you wouldn't need the 500 gage polythene when installing . Another benefit is the savings our clients receive on their annual energy bills.
