I attended the 2 day MIG intro course having never used a MIG welder and i hoped for the opportunity to gain practical experience of welding various joints – I wasn’t disappointed.

I was assigned to my bay for the duration of the course and following a Health and Safety briefing and an introduction to the kit, I was welding within 30 minutes. My instructor Chris explained and demonstrated each exercise then left me to practice, checking in from time to time and helping me to improve. I was able to practice multiple joints using various material thicknesses.

Regular breaks helped me to maintain my energy and focus during the four practical sessions on each day.

Chris was a great instructor; knowledgeable, informative, approachable and very supportive. I enjoyed one to one tuition – others were undertaking different courses at the same time, but my experience was tailored to my interests and needs. Highly recommended! Thanks

I dd the Plumbing L2 course here and it was a brilliant experience for me. The tutor Daren knows his stuff and very easy to approach, same with the assistant, Rose. They're also good, working with people of different ethnicity.
I'll recommend the course and the academy for anyone interested in learning trade courses.
All your efforts is deeply appreciated guys!

I attended the 4 day Classic Car and Bike welding course with Chris as the tutor. I have never welded before and we were taken through the basics of setting up the kit, health and safety and started with basic welds that we are most likley to need for repairing classic cars.
Chris was a very patient, positive, knowledgeable and encouraging tutor who kept the learning environment just right. We had plenty of opportunity to practice, practice and practice. He advised on what kit to get if we were looking to set up our own workshops.
Chris was also great at answering specific questions to our own requirements, one on the course did train carriage repairs so Chris took them through things relevant for them. I had specific questions about my classic car and he was great at advising how best to resolve.
The venue was really easy to get to and there was plenty of parking on site. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. There was free tea and coffee and a food wagon just up the road did hot food.
I feel confident that I can complete safe and good enough welds to repair my old classic. A great course.

I completed the basic intensive MIG welding course and it was such a brilliant experience. The course is extremely practical so you get hands on experience almost immediately and learn lots of new skills in a really short time window. The tutors Chris and Nick, made everyone feel comfortable and created the perfect learning environment. I’m partially sighted and I was the only female learner on the course but it couldn’t have been a more welcoming and inclusive environment to get my first introduction to welding. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an introduction to welding, you will leave feeling like you learned so much.

I have just completed the plumbing level 2 diploma course. Our tutor Darren was great and very knowledgeable. His teaching methods are very good! He explains everything fully and makes sure we understand before moving on. If you're not sure about something, he explains it again step by step. It is a very well equipped centre, with all the tools and facilities you need. The practical projects was brilliant! I have learnt so much and my confidence has grown greatly!
I look forward to my new career in the plumbing industry.

Thank you very much.

I attended a 1-day Introduction to Mig Welding course at CBWA yesterday on 13/05/2025. I had literally no real practical welding experience of any kind, so thought this starter intro would be helpful to me. My trainers Chris & Nick were genuinely friendly guys and super helpful with guidance and advice.

For me, before I got there I wasn't sure at all how the day would be split between theory and practical side of welding. I have theoretical knowledge of various welding forms, but lacked the practical hands-on side. After an initial few mins of key health & safety essentials, I was pleasantly surprised that the rest of the whole day was just pure practical welding practice, practice and more practice. This was exactly what I wished for. Obviously, I have no-doubt the team there know everything there is to know and teach about the theory side, for those wishing that. But for me, this day hands-on practice was just fab.

I met a handful of other guys, most doing various NVQ-level welding course trainings. A couple were also doing a course specialised for restoring classic cars ... I guess where you work with older 'half-rusted' metal sheets, where the trainers teach you how to work, prepare the metal and maybe special techniques to help people doing these kind of restorations. That sounded a great future course for me as I'm also working on an older car to get on the road.

Nick and Chris were brill & I'd like to say a big thanks to them and their supporting staff at the site.

In summary, if you're after a practical course, to get hours of practice totally at your own pace and in your own time, no-body to push you or rush you through anything ... this is a great course/training. I had a fab time. Thanks, Masood

I recently completed the 5-day intensive plumbing course, and it was insightful, well run, and really informative.

Lee has a lifetime of experience and knowledge of the trade, there was nothing he didn’t know, and everything he taught us was demonstrated in a way that was really easy to understand.

Going forward in my career I feel confident and ready to tackle plumbing work that may arise, and I didn’t expect to find that confidence in such a short space of time, but Lee’s patience and teaching methods are are huge part of why I do. Thank you!
