I’m very disappointed with work carried out by Ian from Central Electrical Scotland
Cables for EV charger has been hidden in the wall as agreed with Ian beforehand to make the job easier and less intrusive, I have requested Ian and his helper to:
- connect prepared cat5 cable to charger to make connection stable.
- drill brick from outside to avoid bursting and damaging brickwork on outside wall.
Despite cable being prepared to allow Central Scotland Electrical more time for genuine installation, Ian has used this fact to finish job in 50minutes and drive away despite charging full £350 rate for labour, to summarize:
- Ian provides electrical certificate only after payment is made despite requirement to provide it within 5 days from installation regardless of payment status. I paid invoice to find that electrical certificate provided by Ian has been forged and include: wrong cable size, wrong DB localization, not included alternations made by Ian, what forces to think if rest of the numbers on certificate are genuine measurements taken or Ian favourite lottery numbers? – I asked for corrected certificate, 10 weeks and counting and still haven’t received corrected certificate
- Ian and his helper ignored the request regarding brick drilling and drilled hole from inside and destroyed bricks on outside of the wall, apparently it was too hard to take 2 simple measurements on each side of the wall, All furnitures were moved away before his arrival and there is 75 x 75mm cut-out in wall where red box is marked on the picture prepared especially for this job to ensure there wasn't any cables behind to make drilling from outside to inside safe.
- Cat 5 cable has been ignored and left inside the wall, my wi-fi connection drops randomly now due to weak Wi-fi signal. – confirmed with manufacturer.
- No tests have been done simulating car charging and testing build it RCD device etc, when asked about it Ian replied that those tests aren't required – it may not be required yet but it is recommended by Napit
- During installation I asked Ian how to set up incoming fuse size for Hypervolt charger and Ian said it is all pre-set and he only needs to attach clamp, and I can contact Hyperolt and they will change it for me , after contacting Hypervolt it has been confirmed that CT clamp has been connected incorrectly on Neutral cable pointing load direction, cable polarization crossed, settings on built in manual switch inside the unit left on “no CT clamp installed”.
- Despite charging £68 for materials which couldn’t cost more than £10, Ian couldn’t even get correct circuit breaker before installation and couldn’t be bother to go and buy correct one despite work finished in 50 minutes.
After informing Ian a week after installation that I’m extremely unhappy as he ignored my requests and complained about destroyed bricks, and CT clamp installed incorrectly, Ian replied:
“He’s an apprentice for a reason and if you wanted it done a certain way we could have given you the drill”, “How long I do the job is nothing to do with you”, to cover for his incompetency Ian tried to tell me that I don’t need CT clamp installed as my income fuse is big enough, this way he shouldn't even attempt to install it. Ian asked if I expected him to replace my whole DB as my circuit breakers are discontinued, when told him that they aren’t and are easily accessible and sent him a link to screwfix with needed circuit breaker for £3.30 Ian started claiming that he has been given wrong one buy his wholesaler and he didn’t notice – for someone claiming 30years experience within electricity industry it would be expected to know better.
It is hard to do quality job when even fixing holes for EV charger aren’t drilled correctly!

If you looking for someone to ignore all your requests regarding the job for which you pay and you want your installer to do it his way claiming “I always do it this way” and damaging your property during the job than Ian & Central Scotland Electrical is perfect choice for you!.

I received quotes from a number of companies to carry out this work and chose Ian and his team as they were very polite, helpful, answered all of my questions - I knew nothing very little about EV chargers - and explained the options available to me. Ian followed this up with a fully detailed email quote explaining what work they would carry out, cost for individual items and overall price and included a full brochure on the product we had agreed on. On the day of installation, the work was carried out professionally, the charger was fitted exactly where I wanted it and all mess was cleared away. There was a slight issue with the charger connecting to the app and Ian did everything he could to resolve this - turns out the app was just having a slow day and connection was made. The charger has been fitted for approximately 2 weeks now and I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. It is very easy to use, works as it should and meets my needs. Ian and the team were very attentive, kept me in the loop every step of the way and I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone wishing to install an EV charger.

Super happy with the work from the team. Murray came to do a survey and was super informative and really didn't do any sales which was great, just did the survey and answered my questions. Solar and battery were installed really quickly and have been performing brilliantly since.

Got a 3.6kw with battery fitted.
2 day job with the roofers/scaffolders on day one putting up the panels with Ian popping in to check up and check on any extras needed for the job.
Day two Ian and another electrician showed up to fit the rest.

Unfortunately due to my preference of running the cable under the house the light ran out to commission the dc side of the system..

This was no problem though they returned the next day and got it up and running.

All very civil and obliging from start to finish would use again no worries

Great service and value for money from Ian, he was very quick to respond to our initial contact and any further communication. Installed a 60 l/s extractor fan for us for a very competative rate, did a great job, really quickly and left no mess behind. Also supplied a minor works certificate to help us get our completion certificate signed off. Very happy with the service and would definetely use them again

Great quality installation by Ian and his apprentice, at a very competitive price. I thought the communication, courtesy, and the information received about the job was first class. A very busy company who bend over backwards to provide a top service to all of their customers. Well impressed 😎👍
