As a sales training expert and recipient of a call from 'Direct Energy Associates',I am appalled at what these call agents are being told to say to prospective customers, some of whom are probably elderly and some vulnerable. Their opening line "ma'am we are calling you because the National Grid has told us that you are being over charged for your electricity" is a blatant lie and probably an illegal claim against the prospects current provider. In cold calling the first and most crucial step is to build a rapport and trust with the recipient, this line is not only a lie but an insult to the target audiences and needs to stopped. Trainers responsible for providing guidance to callers to say rubbish like this are taking away from the hours that these callers put in to try to meet the targets they are set. This company has a responsibility and duty to their staff as well as their customers.

It's a con. a lie. it is not even a business but in a private - rather run down and shabby - house... Direct Energy Associates randomly calls and tries to get my business and their calls are DAMNED ANNOYING - and the man WOULD NOT STOP even after i told him I was on the TPS system to bar these calls and still he kept going. REALLY ANNOYING.
