Drax is the largest power station in the uk. It produces 14tera watt hours enough power for five million homes. Tours of the plant are only open to educational groups. There is a good foot path around the perimeter of the site, offering good views. There is also a nature reserve open to the public.

It was very interesting and informative trip to Drax power station where the photography is allowed, and the tour guide one of the station seniors stated that Drax one of hand full state owned power station and converted to biomass fuel from coal 3 decades ago most of wood imported from Usa and Canda takes 3 weeks trip by huge company owned ships ones anchored at Port it loads to the station using special made train, 17 tones load aday 6 days aweek, full storge capcity can run the tunines 12 days only, there is bioenergy carbon capture and storge project but not cover the whole system it only lessen Co2 emissions of 2 turibnes only with efficiency of 90% ,coal stock still exists as energy shortage supply worldwide ,conversion projects enable former coal plants to continue operating cost efficiently with their existing supply, generation, and grid infrastructure. Unlike wind and solar energy, biomass is not dependent on grid expansion. Coal plants converted to biomass are 24/7 resources that contribute to security of supply even when the sun does not shine and the wind does not blow. This makes biomass a viable and reliable complement to intermittent renewable energy resources.

In addition, coal assets are a highly valuable source of employment in communities. Biomass conversion preserves jobs both at the power station and along the supply chain.

Avoid Drax energy at A L L costs. After a tenant left and suppliers were swapped they took an inordinate time to acknowledge this and change over the Billing resulting in an exorbitant daily standing charge.they failed to
Change the nighttime economy meter by their own admission too. Despite realising it was their time-wasting that resulted in this and apologies for the oversight which ran up a huge bill they didn’t not make any amends to Come To an agreement. Take forever to reply to Emails and couldn’t get an human on the phone to raise this. Shanee the Customer Care Executive in particular gets a special mention for not resolving as well as the ‘credit Management team’ who didn’t help. Six months of silence from them then a final ultimatum with 7days notice. We are off to the ombudsman now. Avoid and tell all you know - this company is a disgrace.
