The atmosphere is safe and quite, and the rooms are a good size, clean, very affordable, and a Ralph's and Churches Chicken in walking distance. Also, they have EXTREMELY comfortable beds, a bathtub AND a shower (which is awesome), a small fridge AND a microwave (also awesome), and they will let you use their washer and dryer. If you plan to stay for a week or more you can negotiate an even better deal on the price. I LOVE this place (I almost didn't leave a review because I didn't want anyone else to know about this gem,,,)

For the amount of money I paid ($55 if I remember correctly) I have absolutely no complaints. Good location, easy parking... But for that money don't expect much luxury. Only the basics are there. I was positively surprised to see a fridge and a microwave though. The lighting options in the rooms could easily be improved though. There are only ceiling lights in the room and one bathroom light over the sink. The lights are white and don't give any warmth.
The bed was comfortable enough and the room was clean. The lady at the desk was nice and pleasing.

I had to pay a $50 security deposit (can go up to $150 according to the signs). Even though I understand why, I am not the most comfortable doing so but they did give my money back quickly.

Greed will always surface. 100% honest review. Stayed two nights & honestly rooms were pretty nice. Had my expensive road bike & used my OWN wash rag to clean. I tossed it & manager kept my deposit. Of course I tried contacting the manager & each time he hangs up while I'm speaking! Greedy & guilty as charged. They will try any tactic to keep your deposit so be aware. Business 101, low price with high deposit with hopes you do something. They even tried adding late check-out! I left 10:10am. Scam, crooks so beware.

After spending five days at EC Motel, I am shocked by the negative reviews. First, this is obviously a budget hotel. It looks seedy from the outside, and the building itself is old. With that said, my companion and I were greeted by a very friendly staff member as we pulled into the parking lot. The property is fenced in, and reasonably secure. The desk staff were very friendly and accommodating, bridging two reservations seamlessly so I wouldn't have to check out and back in again after extending my stay online. The room itself was impeccable. The bathroom fixtures, bed, refrigerator, microwave, and television were all brand new. Although my companion and I declined housekeeping services for the duration of our stay, I actually saw housekeepers turning mattresses in other rooms and vacuuming the beds themselves in between guests. There is NOTHING unclean about this property! To be fair, the desk and hutch in the room were old, and this was a smoking room. This was made clear to me at the time that the reservation was made, and the desk clerk mentioned it again at check in, apologetically confirming that this was ok before giving us our key. As to the review stating that the "chinese old man" was hard to understand... wow. I have to assume that the gentleman I met was who they meant, but I understood him perfectly well. Furthermore, he understood my french accent perfectly, and my companion's Spanish accent just fine. Sometimes people in diverse cities are bilingual. Don't take it personally that they (we) speak a second language! Finally, I want to mention that EC Motel is less than two miles from Exposition Park. We stayed here during the FYF Music Festival. Many of the people staying at this hotel were festival goers, but we didn't hear a peep from anyone or anything during the entire stay. Our room was quiet, security greeted us every time we came and went, and we were relieved to lie in our clean, quiet, comfortable bed every evening. The room rate was VERY affordable for an event weekend -- well under half what any other local hotel was charging -- and we were walking distance from the big event. On the nights that we danced enough to want Uber, we paid $2 - $6 per ride. It isn't a glamorous property, but I would stay here again in a heart beat.

I'm online for the first time ever giving a review, because I was SO impressed by the kindness and excellent customer service of Fred at reception. Logging on here, I just read bad reviews of this motel. I was there 4 consecutive evenings. I must say...after spending 2 weeks checking online (carefully researching/planning my trip to LA), I was aware that this accommodation (apart from hostels) was the cheapest anywhere. So, I didn't have high expectations to begin with. BUT, I was VERY pleasantly surprised! The grounds were impeccably clean...as were both rooms we stayed in. The cleaning staff couldn't have been nicer!! And Fred went above and beyond for me, during the entire stay...ensuring we were above completely happy. That's why i'm even taking the time to write this. Staying at EC Motel was excellent value for the money. It was very comfortable (the beds were great), and everything I needed was there (in the small room, and nearby). It's not the Plaza. Do not expect more than basic accommodations. But we felt safe (it is gated, and locked well), and one of the few times I felt cared for by management. Fred spent over one hour helping me navigate the city. A stranger. A very kind one! Thanks Fred!

My mom and I stayed here last minute on our way to OC. We made the mistake of impulsively staying here not realizing the neighborhood dynamics. The staff was great but is not present during the night. Beware. No security was available patrolling the property. The rooms are very small but clean. --My biggest issue was not feeling safe. At ~23:00, I heard a drunk man pounding on the neighboring door to ours. I was afraid for my life and the neighbor's safety. This place needs added security.

Considering the area that it is located in this place is actually extremely clean and updated. The security deposit is way too high and that's not including your fee for your room. One of the housekeeper is very rude and not polite at all. but the receptionist are very cool and nice and are willing to help with any questions that you may have. The only main issue that I have with this hotel is that they do not accept cash at all ?

No nasty carpet flooring and understood unwanted to be on the first floor cause my kid has heavy steps. Lol . Would stay here again (we stayed 5 nights)
