What a pleasure it was having ECO4 Energy Saving installing my new boiler, the staff were so polite and professional, they were extremely patient with me throughout the tough times I was going through with some builders. They put insulation in my loft and then assured me time and time again that they will give me time if the builders are delaying me and when the install went ahead it was very very smooth. While the arrangements for the undertaking of the necessary work went smoothly enough and the installers were friendly and got on with the job in hand, I feel the standard of some of the workmanship leaves something to be desired. Firstly, the boiler does not hang plumb on the wall. Secondly, according to the manufacturer's website, the magnetic filter supplied (one of the cheapest on the market) should always be fitted with the magnet chamber vertical. That was not the case in this instance. Being a retired plumber I was able to rectify this myself.
When I asked if the installer had introduced corrosion inhibitor into the system, he claimed he did not understand what I was talking about. This rang alarm bells as all heating engineers know what corrosion inhibitor is. Futhermore, the system was not cleaned and flushed out, which should be part of the commissioning process for any new boiler and may invalidate the guarantee if the boiler should fail as a result of 'sludge' in the system.
In order to install the new pipework from the gas meter to the boiler, the earth bonding for both gas and water supplies was removed and not made good afterwards. Contrary to Gas Regulation 18(2) of the The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, I was not made aware of this either by word of mouth or in writing, neither was anything recorded under 'Further Action Required' on the Landlord/Home Owner Gas Safety Record.
Extractor fans were 'fitted' in the kitchen and bathroom and again, the one in the kitchen was not fitted straight. It was indicated (twice) that someone would return later to connect these items to the electicity supply. This has not happened.
When the front cover of the fan in the kitchen was removed to see if it could be straightened up, it was discovered that the fan was secured to the wall by one screw only. A second screw had been driven into the plaster without a plastic wall plug, thus serving no useful purpose. Removing the fan to rectify this, it was found that the core drill used to produce a hole for the ducting had not penetrated much further than the wall plaster. At one point it was noted that the operative was using a large, long series masonry drill, perhaps having realised that coring a hole through a 21ins thick stone wall was going to take too long. This, of course, did not produce the necessary Ø 112mm hole to allow the fan to be ducted to the outside as per the manufacturer's instructions.

The overall impression is of a cheap job with corners cut to maximise profit and scant regard for correct procedures or quality of workmanship.

Went through many companies before I decided to go with this amazing company, I can't fault them at all from start to finish they have been understanding, accommodating, i have a daughter who is end of life palliative and they have worked round my availability ,they came and in 1 day put bolier in etc they then cleaned up after them selves amd took all the rubbish with them, honestly the best customer service in particular Slater he has been so good and understanding and his customer service is top notch, thanku
