The hotel management are the sweetest people I've ever encountered while staying at a hotel. They really went above and beyond and even host movies and popcorn in the lobby. They are absolutely delightful!! The room I was in was comfortable, spacious, clean, and quiet. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and the continental breakfast ?. I highly recommend staying here, and this will be our go-to whenever we visit Fredericksburg!! My children had a marvelous time and say they will always remember our stay here.

If you are traveling from out of town and would like to know that your room is going to be there when you get there do not choose this hotel. On a spur of the moment road trip my husband and I chose this hotel late one night traveling through Fredericksburg we booked the hotel at around 11:00 which I know is late so after our confirmation and with our credit card on the internet I called the hotel to inform them that we were still about an hour or more away and that our pet was accepted she told me yes and we continued on our trip she was very polite. However when we arrived my husband ( tall Hispanic man with tattoos)went in to get our room and was told by the manager that our room had already been sold and that our credit card had been denied and that they don't hold. We called our credit card company our card had just worked 15 minutes ago at a gas station and on the entire rest of our trip it had funds so we couldn't see why it had been denied. Now normally when something like this happens the manager is at least apologetic and normally the credit card company can give you a reason why it denied a charge but it was late and we could not see that the card had been even attempted or denied nor was the manager apologetic in any way shape or form. It was only after I spoke with a representative this morning that I chose to write this review I cannot for the life of me figure out why we were denied a hotel room by this establishment. When I spoke with the manager this morning he said that that was a very late booking and that the don't hold rooms. Since he booked someone in our confirmed room I assume he has no problem with late bookings and once again a card has to be at least attempted to be charged to be approved. Moral of this long story if you book here call and call again to ensure your rooms safety, and don't look like you are from out of town.

I want to be very gentle with this review, because I believe the property has room for growth. The check in process was relatively smooth. The woman was very informative and polite. We went to our room, and it has clearly had 'some' renovation. The flooring was a new style laminate of sorts. However, the trim around the toilet could definitely use a good cleaning. The bathroom and sink areas were still dated, but clean. The walls had some major dings and some pealing or scraped off paint. Not entirely uncommon for an inexpensive stay in a touristy area. There was shortage of outlets in the room - we both like to plug in our devices at the end of the day and there weren't really enough outlets for 2 of us. That's not an easy fix and likely wasn't an issue when the property was built. When we attempted to close the curtain, there was a small bug of sorts on the curtain. It wasn't a bug I'm familiar with but based on photos it wasn't a roach either (or rest assured, this review would go way different). We attempted to find/remove/kill it, but it was too quick. We never saw another - so it may have come from outside. We spent the afternoon and evening out on the town. Upon our return to the room, we noticed there was no top sheet (flat sheet) on the bed. Instead, there was a waffle weave type of coverlet (like the one you see folded at the bottom of a bed at a Marriot Property). I managed to sleep without the sheet but promptly went to the office in the morning to request a top sheet. We had to ring the bell, it was about 5 till 8am. The woman (very gracious again) said she would see to it; we had a top sheet later. We left and headed to town for Breakfast and some more shopping. We returned mid-morning, and our room had been tidied up and the bed made. We pulled the top down and realized there was still no top sheet. I once again, went to the office with a photo in hand and explained that the white coverlet on our bed was not a sheet and asked again if flat sheets were available. The (again, super kind) women went to the room behind the office (laundry maybe) and retrieved a top sheet. She asked if I wanted to take it to the housekeeper or remake it myself, she only had 24 in circulation - or something of that nature. I gave her 'a look' and she quickly decided she would remake the bed. Upon our arrival later that evening, the bed had been remade and we actually had a nice stock of pillows (2 the night before). We did use the pool, one of the evenings. It was clean. I'm not a fan of floating chlorine, but I get it. We kept pushing the floater aside. Regardless, the pool-time was enjoyable. We did not take part in the pastries for breakfast we opted for protein options in town - but that was our choice. Pastries are fine for most. Overall, the stay was fine. The hotel does need a little TLC, but for the price and location, you really cannot beat it. I will say - specifically to the folks at Choice Hotels - the property is not a 25,000 point/night stay. It's an 8-10K at best. We would stay again, for a quick night or 2. I wouldn't' recommend it for an extended period of time.

Male counter worker was rude and just gave off a very unfriendly vibe, room was dirty and not ready after we were already given a key. Female staff member was super nice. Wife got super itchy from the bed along with bite marks on her skin. Decided to go for a quick dip before leaving and the pool guy was soooooo eager to come clean a extremely clean pool area.....just a perv......don't recommend at all. We will never ever stay here again. Worth less than what we paid.

The Good: Pool was clean. Good customer service. Decent nightly rate.

The Bad: bathroom floor very dirty, lots of trash, hairs, didn't looked mopped. Tub is excessively old, paint peeling off, shower curtain dirty. Also, there were over 4 flies and mosquitoes inside room. Housekeeping needs training.

First hotel in a long time that actuality had drinking water available. Plenty of ice. Hot tub was working. Breakfast was great, blue berries, strawberries, cereal, good for me.

Room had 1 dead big Cockroach, 1 living small roach. Tub did not have a drain. Forgot to ask them to leave ac on before check-in so room was hot on entry. Floor and carpet are a bit tired.

It was clean but needed work. Said it had 2 queen beds but only had one. The free breakfast left a lot to be desired. Had to stand in an airless little cubicle to check in as the lobby was locked. No housekeeping after 3 PM and you couldn’t check in until 3 PM. Didn’t make any sense.||The whole property was underwhelming.

Positive: The pool was awesome! Negative: Original room we settled into, the A/C was leaking all over the floor. The next room had a smell(thinking it was the carpet). Saw a few bugs; The toilet seat was off the toilet so husband put it "on"; Gentlemen at front desk, I wish he would smile.
