We are a struggling customer of Costco Engenera solar panel kit installation.

We have suffered technical/electrical/design issues for over a year. We are trying to get our solar kit, purchased from Costco, working in line with UK regulatory standards.

Engenera has demonstrated to us throughout this year that they have no technical competence in-house. It appears to be primarily an admin company, subcontracting the technical work to anyone they can find.

Within a year we have seen a revolving door of Engenera in-house managers and random third party technicians who were almost completely incompetent. I spare the detail here, it was bad beyond belief.

Costco can't do anything meaningful about our complaints, they can only pass messages to Engenera.

We have escalated a few times to Engenera executives to no avail.

Last time we were promised, by yet another new manager, a call back next week with a technical action plan and a remediation design drawn by CTO of Engenera. We are still waiting. Three weeks has passed.

We are chasing, again.

I don't recommend Engenera as a solar kit installer.

I want to share my experience with Costco and Engenera for anyone considering their solar installation services. I initially chose Costco, a reputable company, assuming they would deliver on their promises. Engenera was their subcontractor for the installation, although I had never heard of them before. Unfortunately, the process did not go as smoothly as expected.

After placing my order, there were delays in performing the desktop survey and completing the site survey and design. Communication became challenging, and it took multiple follow-ups to get a response from the subcontractor. They mentioned having new management and assured me they would personally address my order.

Eventually, the desktop and physical site surveys were conducted, and I approved the system based on the design. However, further issues arose when it came to the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) approval. There was a misunderstanding regarding my DNO status, which resulted in the need for resubmission and additional waiting time.

Even after resolving the DNO issue, another problem surfaced: Engenera expressed doubts about the available space on my roof. Despite offering to install as many panels as possible and keep the rest, they were unable to proceed. As a result, I wasted nearly 6 months of time and noticed that prices for the same system increased on Costco's website.

To make matters worse, my order was eventually canceled without any compensation or resolution. Based on my experience, I advise potential customers to consider local, trusted installers instead of Costco and Engenera.

Costco even proudly running a campaign on their website home page that promoting the services of Engenera with discount, although I feel it is really expensive system, knowingly that they are misleading customers and not able to deliver order such a customers like me.

I hope sharing these details helps others make informed decisions and avoid the frustrations I encountered throughout this process.

Echoing the complaints of everyone else in here. Bought from Costco a year ago and still trying to get them to finish the installation. Seems to be revolving door at Engenera, with account manager after account manager joining, promising to fix the issues and then disappearing from the business. Costco should be ashamed to be associated. I've learnt more about the solar and DNO process than most of the engineers after having to constantly chase them to do their job. DO NOT PAY THE PREMIUM TO BUY VIA COSTCO, its not worth it at half the price.

If I could give this company a minus score I would they never answer the phone they don’t deliver when they say told us they would give us a installation date within 20 days it’s now well over that and no one has bothered to call from the installation team the only reason we went with them was through Costco but think Costco seem to have picked an EXTREMELY USELESS company how they are still in business astounds me. Jamie tried so hard on our behalf to get someone to contact us I think he would be better suited in management he’s their only asset. I wish I had never approached them to install solar panels been a waste of 2 months chasing them so stay well away for the sake of your sanity soooo fed up with them.

Purchased solar system from Costco at just under £12k

We’re very slow and when design it was something others had done as part of the quote process in a few hours.

It also arrived with a warranty this basically not worth the paper it’s written on.

We cancelled and went elsewhere.

Engineers confirmed the system was incorrectly installed in July 2020. Started experiencing lack of or no hot water from September 2020 onwards and heating not working on many occasions to date July 2023. The water tank cylinder started leaking from Oct 2022 and 9 months later still not resolved and now damaging the surrounding area. ASHP unit leaking and damaging inside floor and wall, still not resolved. NAPIT now assisting but Engenera Seniors playing games and only respond on NAPIT last day deadlines. DO NOT GO TO ENGENERA!!!

To be fair I am so so disappointed that words are so heavy in my heart. This company had works done at my house, commissioned the system left without works complete. My system developed errors and my houses has been cold through out December till now. The £9000 works did not even last 3 days. We are in the middle of January 2021 (19th). I have 2 infants who’s room have been left cold because I do not have enough fan heaters so we all have to sleep in one room. If you out there and thinking of using them at least I have shared my experience with you. To say I am very frustrated is an understatement.

Recently dealt with Engenera, looking at reducing our carbon footprint and was very impressed with the rep's knowledge and the level of detail in the report he provided. Got everything we asked for, all done in a timely manner and very professionally. No complaints at all.
