We recently decided to have our battery/inverter moved from the loft to our utility room downstairs. Many thanks to Steve A, Chris and Steve who did a first rate job, they took time to explain what would happen and were considerate, caring and very tidy in their work. Although they could not complete the job on the first day due to a longer than anticipated cable run, when they did return they produced a very professional job. System back up and running very well. Big thanks also to Darryl in the office who coordinated the job. Recommend the FDG team.

This summer we planned a major re-roof of our home. As part of this we were installing an additional Velux Window along with solar pv and solar thermal panels, all in-laid into the roof. I contacted FDG several weeks before works started and Stephen Allan came to see us. He prepared a contract which we signed and paid the deposits so he could plan the works and order materials etc. I kept him abreast of progress and once the scaffolding was erected I arranged a site meeting so Steve and his guys could come and see the roof, measure up and complete their final planning + discuss interfaces with our roofer. From the outset I made it clear to Steve that we required a panel layout drawing or even just basic dimensions to allow us to position the new Velux so that it was not in the way of the proposed solar panels. Layout drawings were promised every time unfortunately nothing was ever forthcoming, not even basic dims. When it came to installing the new Velux our roofers put it where they thought best but unfortunately the position of it meant that we could not install 2 of the 6 pv panels on the 3-storey section of roof that has the best orientation.
On the 2-storey section of roof I ended up producing the layout drawing myself as FDG were unable to do it. They actually issued me with a revised contract showing only 6 panels rather than 10 with a minimal price reduction compared to the original quote!
When their electricians came to install cables etc they left us with piles of dust and debris throughout the house where they had been drilling – they did not even sweep up! The FDG guys also delivered all of the new solar pv and thermal panels and left them, unprotected with no wrapping at all, under the scaffolding where roofing works were underway overhead.
When the guys installed the 2 x thermal panels the workmanship was very poor. The seal across the top of the panels between the face of the panels and the flashing kits does not even seal against the panel face – there is a large gap. Again this was emailed to Steve and the FDG team, along with photographs at the time however no response was received. At that stage the panels were easy to access with scaffold in place and no slates on the roof.
Following this initial panel installation work they installed a new 300 litre hot water cylinder for us. This is the only section of work that they have done for us that I have confidence in. Jon their plumber, worked very efficiently and produced a very neat installation. It is only Jon’s work on the cylinder installation that prevented me from giving the lowest possible score.
With regards to the remaining works on the panels, the remedial works on the thermal panels have still not been carried out at the time of writing (02/09/24). Various personnel from FDG have visited and looked at them but no one has actually done anything to address the issue.
All roof works were completed by early July and the only remaining works involved rectifying the defects. Steve promised on several occasions that he would have people coming to deal with the issues. This has led me to rearrange my work plans so that I could be at home when they arrived. Unfortunately, on most of these occasions, no one actually came at all and no one even bothered to call and let me know until I took it on myself to ring or text and find out what was happening.
To conclude, it has been one broken promise after another dealing with Steve. We still have outstanding remedial works and no certs have been issued for any of the electrical works that have been live since early July. We incurred additional costs in keeping the scaffold up to assist them with access for 5 weeks after it was finished with for other works but they never managed to get anyone here to address the defects. With regard to the outstanding remedial works, it is a huge challenge to get Steve to call us or answer any of my calls to him to discuss what is happening. Overall, a very stressful, frustrating and expensive few months!

We have used FDG Group to install our solar panels, solar inverter, air source heat pump, new cylinder, bigger radiators, and finally battery storage for our 40’s 3 beds semi detached. We have found them excellent from start to end. We have what we need for our property after consultation and quotes etc. they did on site survey and paperwork to explain the work we need for our property. They did the heat pump all in 5 days from removing old gas boiler, changed all old radiators to bigger, put in cylinder in the loft with all the pipe works, they are very efficient and clean, when the work done, it’s like we haven’t had them at all, there was no paintwork for me to repair, no new carpet, it is amazing. The heat pump work really well. We found having heat pump with solar panels and battery work together rather well. This keep our electricity bill down to almost 20p per day during the spring/summer/ early autumn. We would recommend them. Thank you for your hard work and make this happened.

BATTERY SYSTEM INSTALLATION

After my initial enquiry to FDG regarding adding a battery system to my existing solar, via email, I received a prompt call to discuss my requirements. This lead to an initial site visit for the engineer to check my current solar setup. During the visit Steve was able to answer any questions my wife and I had and offered a solution that no other company had for us to consider. FDG are paperless so quotes and contract were all received via email, speeding up the process.
Installation day arrived and the 2 guys were brilliant. They were neat and tidy and cleared up after themselves, after they left you would not have known they had been!
From initial contact through to the finished installation I would highly recommend FDG Group to anyone.

Thanks to Steve and everyone at FDG Group for the installation of my solar, inverter and battery system. The work they did was professional and fuss free, and I am looking forward to significantly reduced electricity bills as a result. Pictures show a nice, tidy bit of cabling. Had them out today for a service on my air source heat pump that they installed a year ago. Called them up to book it in and managed to get me in quite quickly, chap on the phone was very friendly and helpful.
The two lads that came in were very good got straight to work were very polite, did all the Checks and made sure all was working.. really happy with all the work they’ve done for me thank you.

I was was very pleased with the solar panel installation they did for me in 2019 so I got a quote from them to upgrade the batteries to a Solax 6.2 system. They completed the installation yesterday and it was done expertly and efficiently
