I have been with GB Energy for around 18 months paying by direct debit. I have had no dealings with them whatsoever apart from supplying meter readings......until now. They have decided my tariff is no longer available and my prices have increased dramatically. I have contacted them to change my tariff, asking how their new prices compare to the best I found on USwitch and have had no reply, it has been 10 days so far.
To sum up, switching to them was easy, the prices were great and everything was going well, until you need to contact them. It's a shame because I will end up leaving , not because I got a better price elsewhere, or that they did anything wrong but simply because they didn't answer my emails.

Cheap prices, terrible customer service. Have to spend ages to get through. Been promised numerous call backs, and had none, three weeks on.

This was due to a staff member leaving and outsourced payment process. However, this is something that the company needs to look at, and left me waiting for almost a month to finally close our account.

Eventually, I managed to speak to Shane because the original complaint handler hand left, and I have now received a ÂŖ25 refund on a ÂŖ305 bill. Somewhat satisfactory resolution, but not reflective of the time I've spent chasing the matter.

An unbelievably hopeless company. They messed up my house in Jan-17 move as they did not correctly set themselves up as my new supplier as they were bankrupt (!). They told me I must set up with Coop Energy. Coop Energy, who actually owned GB Energy, said I couldn't set up with them because I was with GB Energy. And round we went. I sent both companies my setup details and both companies ignored or lost them. I couldn't change supplier at this point because GB Energy refused to give permission to for me to move. So having supplied my details I decided to wait and see.

Then at the original property which I had now left, and in spite of me having been overcharged during my time there and owed a refund at the previous address, sent my details to a debt collector(!!!!!). After quite a lot of pain the debt collector acknowledged that there was nothing to pay and said this wasn't uncommon from GB Energy and was annoying them. Then I started, 2 months after I had moved out, they sent me 5 different bills for my previous property by email on the same day, each with a different amount. I ignored these.

They then sent red letters to my previous address to pay these bills, even though I didn't live there and had set up emailed billing so it should have been emailed to me. It was only by chance that I got hold of these and had to pay it because they said they billed me wrongly before but this was definitely the final bill now.

They then sent me a final disconnection notice to "The Occupier" at my new address, even though I had 3x supplied details incl DD. I phoned them 3x and no one answered after 25,30,37mins of being on hold. There is no queuing number so for all I know, there is no one answering phones.

I wrote an angry complaint that surprisingly someone came back to me once on email to acknowledge that there were problems. Then the person said I needed to supply again my final meter readings at the original property so they can bill me once more(!!!) I was annoyed by this but did respond with this but there was no acknoweldgement or further responses by them to that or a following email.

I tried to move to a new supplier but GB Energy blocked the move. They don't tell the new supplier why and you cant call them to find out.

AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I signed up, then heard nothing more. I tried to phone, was kept on hold for half an hour. I emailed. I phoned again, managed to get through and set up my account and gave them my meter reading. Heard nothing more. I emailed and received a reply promising me a call. Heard nothing more. I emailed again and received a reply asking me if I had received promised call. I replied no. Heard nothing more. I then got a bill from Scottish Gas. I phoned GB Energy. 50 minutes of being on hold later, I gave up. I emailed and I messaged on the webpage. Heard nothing more. Then I received a text saying "thank you for telling us your move has been cancelled" I give up. This company is utterly useless - they advertise a cheap price but can't back up their advertising. Give them a wide berth.

If there was a zero option I would use it!! DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! The biggest con artists going. Moved into new property and thought I would stay with these and give them a try. 1st month I got a letter saying the bill was getting an increase so not a good first example. Then sending me letters saying I already owed money but this turned out to be the last tenant. So I decided after my first month to cancel and go elsewhere. I used USwitch to do this which should have been straight forward but no thanks to GB Energy/CoOpEnery/Dodgy Energy they gave me every excuse in the book as to why they couldn't close my account even though they had took an extra payment out so I was in credit!! I cancelled my direct debit and with help from my new supplier we managed to get this disgrace of a company to close my account down and refund me my money what they owed me. Stay clear of them!!

I used to like them. They were cheap and easy to deal with. Then suddenly they literally more than tripled my monthly bill and just started taking that from my account as although my tariff "had been enough" the several price increases meant it was no longer and rather than incrementally adjusting my tariff with each price rise they didn't raise it and didn't tell me about the price increases then suddenly said I'd gone from always being in credit to being in debit and they were going to recoup the difference all at once rather than amortising it. So I tried to switch away to a cheaper supplier and they objected and cancelled the switch. Terrible company with stupid ways of doing business and I will be switching away as soon as they release me from their greedy grip.

I do not know why reviews are so low! This company is setup to deal with you mostly via their website which is convenient and easy to use, very easy to provide readings and bills have always been accurate. The only downside is that they are no very proactive at offering lower rates with themselves but i'm yet to come across an energy provider who does anything other than the annual letter they have to do.

Have moved tariff with no issues, move to gb was very smooth from their side (npower not so much the other side!), just called to cancel as we are moving and no complaints there either.

I do not know why the reviews are so negative, good service and cheaper than the big companies - all i can assume is that only disgruntled customers leave reviews perhaps?

I moved into a flat with these as the suppliers, I asked to set up an account for myself but it didnt happen for months, so I switched to another supplier. It was then they set up an account which i then had to cancel within the 14 days, I did cancel, They did not. Then there was an admin error on my meter number which meant that I was prevented from being allowed to switch suppliers, when I asked them to correct the error they never took any action. In the mean time I had no way to pay my bills untill i started getting demanding letters through the post. I had to open up a case with the legal obudsmen and with one week till dealine, still nothing from gb energy, not even an apology. Not just the worst utility company but the worst company I have ever dealt with in any respects.
