Visited this lovely little shop whilst we were on holiday in a lovely lodge, obviously wanted some wood did it know the area at all, the gentleman that was at the counter was instantly welcoming and made us feel quite happy to be in a new area. He found the items we needed and directed to somewhere we could get what he didn’t have. Fab reception

This is what I would refer to as a proper hardware store. It is a family run business, staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, they will give you advice about the best things to do the job, but they don't try to sell you things that you don't need.
They have an impressive range of stock at competitive prices, which they can also deliver if required.
My wife has said that she feels comfortable going there to get things to do, unlike some other places she has been.
Update, we have now been using Goodwins for over a year and they are our 1st choice of places to go when we need anything for our DIY projects.

Popped in here for a couple of plumbing fittings. What a great shop,huge amount of stock that covers all aspects of trade and diy tools and products . Staff member was so very helpful ,+ nothing was too much trouble for him. It wasn't a big purchase but he really mad me feel valued with his positive smiley attitude .
Will definitely use this store again and would highly recommend you visit for all aspects of tools,paint,plumbing,electrical and more .

Well stocked shop with very helpful staff and knowledgeable always would choose this shop over any big DIY stores as very polite and friendly shop.
