GRIDSERVE Charging Station - Braintree

First time stopping at such a service station. The place felt very 'extra' but a pleasant experience. The forecourt had music playing which felt jarring and you can essentially generate electricity with the exercise bikes but the kids lounge was nice. The toilets were spotless and much better than usual services but if this station gets any busier, they'll struggle.

Really good set up, should be one every 100miles on all motorways, but max speed was 235kw average only 190, better than normal GRIDSERVE fare but far to expensive for speeds.
Kicked me off at 80% and had to reload. Lots of bays marked as out of order and several held by their own rental/testers
This is the national show case and reiterates the failure and lows of EV ownership.

Also WHS is +£9.xx for cigarettes so would suggest all is motorway pricing 2miles from M11…
Nice staff, worth a look but EV future is dead if this is it.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Pricey charge but great if you're stuck and need a fast top up. Fast charging is easy, but like everywhere else slow charging is a guessing game. There's some minor indoor playing equipment for children - games on screens like at macdonalds and a bit of colouring. When I saw play area on their website I was expecting to find an outdoor play area for some reason!

Join Round Table for a tour of gridserve recently. Impressive facility. Eloise and Amy checked us in for test drives of a range of electric cars, including Polestar, BYD, genesis, and of course Tesla. Both the girls had impressive knowledge of the cars and and all the answers to the questions we had about the forecourt as well. Great oppurtunity to thoroughly test drive electric vehicles.

I came all the way from Canada to visit after seeing it on YouTube many times. What a fantastic place and hands down what EV charging should be. Plugged my hire Polestar in and the dispensers are extremely fast as advertised. Staff was extremely friendly and there to help.

Brilliant place to charge, 20 odd rapid chargers under cover and half a dozen or so fast chargers just out of the cover and a Tesla Supercharger with 6 chargers. Plenty of benches to sit outside or chairs and tables inside. There's a small shop inside with a load of food and a Costa with friendly staff. There's a couple of exercise bikes upstairs with some nicely appointed toilets, a few meeting pods and a kids play area.
Could do with an outside play area for kids when the weather is good other than that a much nicer option than a regular service station.
Edit: the solar panels don't do much sheltering when it rains. The indoor kids area kept my 3 year old happy for 40 minutes.

A very convenient, clean and spacious place to stop for a rest (and to charge your car). Non-electric car users are also welcome and the station has both a Costa Coffee and a WH Smith outlet. There are exercise bikes here, meeting rooms, places to work quietly on your laptop, and a relatively 'hi-tec' children's play area. The toilets are also extremely clean. There are quite a few charging points here and they are extremely easy to find - with large visible signage etc.

Very nice place to stop for a while.

Not on a regular route for me but went to investigate and top up from the cheaper 22kW charger?. Pleasantly surprised to find a 7 day post office on site. Computer Gaming area if travelling with those into that - I'm not personally in a position to rate that though.
Covered, well lit EV charging area as it should be and rarely is. Well done

I would really want to see the external car lift to showroom in operation ?
