The whole process of our septic tank upgrade as part of the nutrient neutral scheme was really straightforward and, most astonishingly completely free. I completed an online application through Facebook and a few weeks later I got a call from Darren to book a survey date. In the first phone call I asked lots of questions and Darren was able to answer them all, no question was too silly. The surveyor who came out was great and answered more questions and talked us through where it was proposed the upgraded septic tank would go and what else needed to be done. Approval came through very quickly and before we knew it, it was time to go to the office and sign the contract. It was good to meet Darren and he was really thorough explaining all the documentation and how the scheme works going forward. Paperwork was emailed in advance so there was an opportunity to read it and know what you wanted to ask. Before I knew it we were booking the works for 3 weeks later. The installation process was incredibly quick and far less disruptive than I had expected. There was only about an hour where we couldn’t flush loos etc although we kept our water waste very light whilst the works were ongoing. At one point the garden was full of people and machinery and holes, a couple of days later, it was hard to believe that they had been there with everyone left as clean and tidy as was possible given the work that had to go on. The workmen were pleasant to have around, keen on a coffee, and went above and beyond in putting the garden back to normal. This is a fabulous scheme. Usually when you read that something is free you think that there must be a catch somewhere. And, it has cost us absolutely nothing. Our future commitment for annual service costs don’t start until year 3 and are minimal, the cost of a tank empty. I thoroughly recommend Harrisons Civils. They are an experienced company with 25 years of experience and it shows.

I just wanted to say many thanks to Harrison Civils for an excellent installation of our new Graf Sewage Treatment Plant. In particular Darren Wood was extremely helpful and well informed about the process from start to finish. Despite initial scepticism that a major installation of this type could be done at no cost to the householder I can confirm that this is indeed the case. The only undertaking we have to make is to regularly service the plant over the coming years. The installation team worked quickly and professionally doing what they could to keep disruption to a minimum. They were with us for four days. But just to be clear your garden will be impacted by the work and some remediation will be necessary. In our case rolling of the lawn and re-seeding of grass. Let's hope the system performs well into the future but certainly so far so good. Many thanks.

I initially contacted Harrison’s Civils along with a couple of other septic tank specialists because our existing house system was a single chamber with a cassette insert which discharged to the river. As we plan to sell up and downsize I recognised that our non compliant system could be a problem. Harrison’s Civils was the only firm to reply and advised that there was a chance that it could be done free of charge. We actually have two systems on site as one services a couple of holiday cottages. Replacing two systems for free would save over £30k! Our site was a challenge as the old septic tank sat between two branches of the river (our house is a converted watermill). Only access was across a narrow concrete platform of indeterminate structural strength and the installation required two 5 tonne diggers. Roger found a safe solution involving some large steel girders and decking. In the end both installations were completed in 5 days and free of charge. All communications were friendly, professional and clear. I have no hesitation in recommending the company.

Excellent install of treatment plant. The decision to proceed was easy as the installation and product cost ourselves absolutely nothing. The installers were obviously experienced and despite the installation process being challenging it was completed efficiently and the site was left clean and tidy. The driveway was re-shingled, slabs relayed, concrete pad replaced and you would not know that a drainage field had been installed in our lawn after a few months. Communication was good throughout, initially from Darren, then the surveyor and finally the site foreman.

We had a new treatment plant installed under the Broadland scheme that replaces older septic tanks with a new treatment plant free of charge.
I can confirm that it was free of charge we didn’t have to part with any money. This company has a great team working for the. The communication between us and them was good. the working team were very polite and efficient the treatment plant was installed to our satisfaction and the garden was left clean and tidy.

The experience of having the sewage plant installed has been really positive and I would heartily recommend it to you if you are offered it.
It hasn't cost me a penny.
The guys who carried out the work were pleasant and thoughtful
The necessary meetings with the surveyors went smoothly and the final visit to Harrissons office to sign up with Darren Wood was a pleasure as he explained the procedure In terms a lay person could understand.
On top of all that it's good for the environment..

We recently had a new tank installed by Harrison Civils. It was installed completely free of charge as part of the scheme to offset the nutrient neutrality requirements. Harrison Civils are very experienced at installing these plants, which gave me confidence to begin with, but even so I was amazed how little disruption was caused on site during the installation. The communications I had with the office and in the meetings that I attended, Darren in the office was excellent in answering all of my questions quickly and efficiently. The installation was completed to my complete satisfaction, including the site being left clean and tidy, with less disruption than we were expecting.

We had a water treatment plant installed by the Harrison Civils team in February 2025. We were very happy with all they did, the team were extremely professional and their 25 years experience showed this. Site visits were quick and the driveway was re-shingled which we did not expect (thanks HC). We thought it would take much longer but even with an extra long drainage field, all was completed in three days. The only thing it has costs us is some grass seeds and we have many large and complicated flower borders here.
Highly recommendable.
Thanks Darren, Rodger & co
