The level of service from Home Smart Energy has been awesome. Spoken at length to Leo from very helpful technical service team. I purchased 14 solar panels and 3 batteries. System is working really well but the level of past sales support has been so good e.g. resetting the system so batteries charge at certain times to benefit from better overnight tariffs with Octopus energy (who are also very good). I would definitely recommend Home Smart Energy and will be using them to install charging equipment for when we get an EV.

Installation was excellent apart from the battery fitters forgetting one of the batteries. However that was fixed the very next day and I’m very glad we did this. Friendly people at my home but also on the phone. Just still waiting for DMO paperwork so I can start clawing back some money from the grid. It’s been longer than I was told but I’m hopeful it will get sorted soon. Installation was end of June 23.

In the past I have had some small issues with Home Smart, not being the easiest of companies to deal with. But, in recent years, this has changed. The last couple of times I have had contact with them have been much improved.
Yesterday was the icing on the cake. I had problems with my solar panel system that had been installed by them several years ago and it was not 'talking' to the app on my phone. I ventured into the loft, hoping to see an obvious reason for this, but no.
I was definitely out of my comfort zone. Lights of various colours and stages of illumination, knobs, switches and wired connections all showed in front of me.
Not knowing what to do and where to start, I rang Home Smart. Kai was so patient and understanding. He explained every step that I needed to take (even when I needed to do some steps repeatedly). It was a long process, probably my inefficiency, but Kai suggested it may need time to reset so I left it overnight. The following day, it was still not working so I called again. Once again, Kai talked me through the process and investigated other things that cropped up. This time it was successful. He also took the time to explain why it was better to use a different app and and what the app could show me.
I now have a solar system that is working well and talking to my phone, thanks to Kai.

We received a letter in the post from our local council regards solar and exploring different tenders. Smartfoam were the company to win the tender and they have been a breeze to deal with. The flyer came through in October and the panels were installed by January. Good communication, everything has been quick and efficient. Install was very fast (we had 13 panels and battery). No mess no damage. Everything was explained and the app system is a great idea, love watching the In going and out going stats. All the documentation was received within days of completion too.

Home Smart Energy installed our solar panel system in August 2022.

The scaffolders were awful and broke a number of tiles as the scaffolding wasn't put on boards and rested directly on top of the ridge tiles, which obviously cracked.

They also damaged a couple of tiles on the other side of the property whilst trying to throw up scaffolding parts, and missing. Whilst this is not the direct fault of Home Smart Energy, it was a bad experience. We had to pay in full before they were able to chase the scaffolding team to come out and fix the roofing issues.

These issues were eventually worked through. Unfortunately on 24th Dec 2023 (1 year 4 months on from installation) the Solis system sent an email stating the AC had failed. Upon investigation, the fuse had blown, so tried to push it back up, only to be met with lots of clicking, sparks and eventually the bang as the fuse cut out again. Upon further investigation it seems this part has failed and burnt out, thankfully the fuse worked and cut out before the burning could turn into anything worse!

As for the provided Solis system, we have been very happy with the product and overall installation, and the price was competitive.

I am awaiting response as to when this will be fixed and will adjust my rating accordingly.

Update1: an engineer was meant to visit the property to fix the above issue. The engineer never turned up and no communication from Home Smart Energy. Waste of a days annual leave. Have adjusted the rating down to 2 stars now sadly. Still awaiting this to be fixed so we can have a solar system again.

Update2: engineer called a few minutes after update 1 at 1715 and will be here in 45 minutes, sounding more promising this will be fixed 🙂

Update3: engineer arrived and was very professional, polite, efficient and helpful. Daniel is a great asset to the company, excellent work ethic and customer service skills. Thank you Daniel and Home Smart Energy for coming out to address this issue. Due to Daniel's high level of service I'm changing to a 5* review.

This is a review of HomeSmart Energy, also trading as SmartFoam Ltd. I placed an order for foam removal from loft and paid 25% of the total amount quoted at time of placing the order. The company and I both signed their contract. The week before the work was due to commence, I received the final invoice for the remaining balance. Perhaps a bit premature?!! They never turned up. I tried phoning the company several times, but the line would just go dead. I tried emailing them with little more success. Over a week later I got a call to say that they wouldn't be doing the work as "it wouldn't be cost effective for them"! Not sure how they feel about customers who don't honour their side of a contract? I was told I would get my deposit returned immediately. It eventually landed in my account 2 weeks after the work was scheduled to start. They even had the arrogance to think they hadn't really done anything wrong. Perhaps in future they should consider completing the jobs they have signed contracts to complete and learn from any poor quoting. They weren't even the cheapest quote, but I had the mistaken confidence in their ability to do the job competently. If you're considering asking them to remove foam, I shouldn't allow them to waste your time. There are plenty of more reliable companies out there. Not impressed!

Solar installation excellent and operating brilliantly. BUT, the app to manage the battery set up has never worked. Even though an electrician checked it out in June, there have been no further updates on fixing this issue, with no reply to my follow up in August.

Home Smart Energy have been outstanding!!! A breath of fresh air to deal with. You always speak to a human, nothing seems to be a problem for them to sort out, they are knowledgeable, polite, trustworthy, fair, accommodating, reliable and deliver on what they say they are going to do!! Before, during and after your job! So far, I have experienced excellent aftersales care and attention. I really can't fault them! The only negative I can think of is their install electricians, who are like a whirlwind, leave rubbish everywhere. A very minor issue. Otherwise everything has been 1st class and is working beautifully! Thank you Home Smart Energy. I am a very happy and satisfied customer.
