Very interesting hydroelectric generator! A fun use of an old lock! Bonus points for being close to the riverside retail park Home Bargains! Why not get a snack from Mr Morris' emporium and sit and enjoy the whir of green energy being produced! I could think of worse ways to spend my lunch break! Fun for at least one member of the family (probably Dad!). One minus star for the reasonably low energy output as my esteemed colleague has pointed out. Following his advice it is worth the pilgrimage to Woolston for this little fellas larger brother! Great news if you happened to be commuting from, lets say, Home Bargains to Woolston. You could even take your lunch there with you! Enjoy you hydroelectric loving populous!

135 kilowatts archimedean turbine installation that was supposed to be completed in 2020. Nice idea and interesting to watch but to put it into perspective, Fiddler's Ferry power station had a peak electrical generating capacity of 1,989Β Megawatts (1,989,000 kilowatts). So this 'green installation' is less than a drop in the ocean for what is actually needed for base load in the UK. No costs for the setup are given on the hydropol website or by Warrington council. Who knows how long this hydroelectric power station will take to break even. 15+ years is likely, by which point it will likely be needing new parts or it'll be beyond economic repair. Better things to put putting money into like nuclear power for large scale green energy.
