I've been with this shop, and Al Prince, since they were Honest Engine of Midtown, Sacramento. I respect their competence and integrity, and feel respected in return as they patiently satisfy my questions. I wouldn't risk going to another shop unless forced to because finding out if a business is reputable is hazardous and hard work.

IRC was amazing. After a Toyota dealership graciously tried to help fix our 2004 MR2 over a 19 month period - and eventually giving up - IRC took on the impossible. They quickly diagnosed the issue, found the rare part and got or MR2 running again no time. They went above and beyond and were super friendly too. If I could give more than a five star I would.

I recently visited Import Repair Center (IRC) to address a check engine light issue on my vehicle, and I was quite disappointed with their service and pricing.

Firstly, IRC recommended a diagnostic check which cost an exorbitant $200. This was particularly frustrating, as I had already received a free diagnostic at AutoZone, where they identified the issue as related to the coil and spark plugs. Furthermore, another nearby auto shop charges only $110 for the same diagnostic service, making IRC’s rate seem excessively high and unjustifiable.

The most troubling aspect was the repair cost estimate. IRC quoted an outrageous $800 to replace all four spark plugs and one coil. In stark contrast, another auto shop just 800 feet away quoted a much more reasonable $267 for the exact same service. This significant price discrepancy suggests that IRC is overcharging for their services.

Additionally, the reception process at IRC was inefficient and slow. The two elderly gentlemen at the front desk took an unusually long time to type in the details of my issue, which added to my frustration.

Given the excessive charges and the sluggish service at IRC, I cannot recommend this shop. Potential customers would be better served by exploring other, more reasonably priced options in the vicinity.

Jim and his crew are absolutely amazing! I have been having transmission issues and was told that it needed to be programmed. We took it to Jim and he 100% confirmed that it was indeed my transmission and nothing to do with it being programmed. Jim is extremely honest, professional and has amazing customer service. We will be back in the future to work with Jim. I should have brought my vehicle here from the beginning.

Absolutely NOT a trustworthy mechanic. Will gouge you and plunge your family into financial hardship, and give you back a car with remaining or new problems. Save yourself thousands and go to a Midas instead. Pretty unbelievable, Jim, praying for ya.

If you want things done right and appreciate thoroughness, these are the people who will do it. I take both of our cars here for everything from transmission issues to a simple oil change. They'll get the job done and make sure to let you know what may need to be replaced/adjusted, but not in a pushy manner.
