Lanes Group (utilities) / Thames Water - Slough

A man identifying himself as a Thames-Water contractor but carrying Lanes Group branding entered my family’s restaurant 19:28 with no appointment or ID. He carried a long metal prong, took photographs without permission, forced open our grease trap, shouted over my 60-year-old father and repeatedly threatened to “shut us down”.

Our grease trap was installed and signed off by Thames Water on 01/04/2025 and is cleaned weekly (records available). We have full HD CCTV, time-stamped stills and a Thames Water contact who confirms the visitor had no authority to inspect.

We have now raised complaints with Lanes Group, Thames Water and are preparing a police report. Until Lanes Group investigates, disciplines the individual involved and issues a formal apology, I cannot recommend this company’s services or professionalism. I am happy to share evidence with any concerned party.

Applied for a role, and ''Cathy'' the Resource and Talent Manager was very rude when speaking to me on the phone. Very rude, disrespectful and condescending. As soon as the phone call started and I spoke to reply to what she told me, she indirectly told me to shut up. She spoke over me and interrupted me and kept saying ''uh huh'' multiple times to talk over me and interrupt me and then told me to stop talking/speaking and not say anything and that I can reply and speak later after shes finished speaking.

A few seconds later, i replied to another point she made and she carried on speaking to me in a very authoritarian, rude, condescending and belittling, just snapping at me and her attitude was absolutely disgusting, rude, appalling and out of order.

I honestly don't know who on earth this Cathy person thinks she is to be so rude, condescending and patronizing to people. She talks to people like rubbish as if shes above them or better then them just because shes a manager, the fact that she is a manager at this company tells you all you need to know about this company.

Not for everybody, BUT.
I started at Lanes in January 2016. 8 years later I'm still here. And not only me. During those years about three times I quit ( being LGV driver I have other opportunities ) but after a while I was back ( grass is always greener on the other side ). Few of my friends are still here without changing jobs. Usually not so happy people are youngsters without any courses ( not even car license ) and they are not willing to work with their head inside Facebook , you have to kick them up all the time and they always complaining. BUT if you are willing to work you will get your own Van/truck/unit (depends on your department ) and respect among colleagues. If you work in the field your base won't be that big nice building next to Subway but usually Iver treatment site. There are always needs for hands on , and plenty of Overtime available ( that's why I'm here ) so in HGV driving world you won't be out of work. I did some jobs for Tesco/Asda/ recovery, bakery, etc... and Lanes is the best. If you don't hold HGV they will send and pay for you. ( But you cannot be that lazy/tired/Facebook guy ). To be honest I met few good guys in here. It could be a little like in military at some points but together even in muddy / dirty places you end up having great satisfaction. And after you tell stories about ''that hard job you got stuck for 4 hours, called your Tec spec ( specialist ) and he arrived, called for another units and job done'' - even customers can see your effort and reward you with tea , dinner or tip ( not allowed ☝️ ) but yes, thinking about Lanes only smile on my face. Last time I left, and after few months lost the job, I called my old manager crying to get me back and I was back within 2 weeks ... - But you've got to earn your respect , if you don't loose tools, don't scratch vehicles, if you care for colleges and stuff you get rewards. Thus is the most disgraceful company,one of their workers park a thames valley van outside of my house with a heater running in the back at high speed during winter ,ive reported it 4 times,and they ignore our pleas to remove it ,we are woken up at all hours,and it's really disrupting out lives

Awful customer service!!! Been waiting over a week for someone to inspect drainage issue at as sports club. 4th time I’ve been promised we are in the job sheet to no avail!!!!! Absolutely sick of it!
