I’m rating this 5* based on hostel accommodation comparison. Nothing wrong with that, it just feels more hostel than regular B&B.

This centre is predominantly an outdoor activity centre for schools and other groups and will at times I’m sure, be a hive of activity. But! They are now offering B&B style accommodation with separate rooms for individuals and couples, as well as, I assume, multiple occupation rooms if preferred for small private groups. My room was perfect for me. Well provisioned with hot drinks tray in the room, 2 single beds and an en-suite with shower, toilet and clean towels.

A 2 minute walk and I was in the B&B exclusive kitchen/Dinner & Lounge, where for breakfast; Bread, butter, jams, cereals, Fruit and Yoghurts were provided. You can also self cater/cook and a fridge and freezer for guest food also provided.

The centre is staffed 9-5 generally and the staff are always helpful and knowledgeable concerning local walks, activities and other local issues.

There is no local shop! So come prepared if on foot or by cycle. Nearest shop is a few miles. However, the centre has a tuck shop (mainly sweets etc and some small gifts), the village has a hotel/pub/restaurant, and there is a small tea room, deli counter and quality restaurant by the Golf Club/camp site-The Stags Pavilion. (Limited opening times/days)

The centre is ideally located and as long as you are happy with shared lounge, cooking and eating facilitate it is first class. The views from the lounge are fantastic and a small terrace has chairs to relax and watch. I will be back as soon as I possibly can!!

I stayed here for a week on a field trip and it was excellent. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about the area. The views were stunning in every direction, and all indoor spaces were clean and light. There are many places to see in the nearby area, as well as fantastic wildlife. Would definitely recommend.

Tried the Lochranza Fryday, whilst staying in a cottage down the road. Great service, and the food and price reflected each other nicely. Friendly staff, swift service and the beer batter on the fish was lovely. Not many places you can get fish and chips for under £10! Made for a lovely end of holiday tea!

We visited a couple of weeks ago as two families of 10. Their Covid policies and practice appeared to be excellent. We had wall to wall sunshine and temperatures approaching 25 degrees centigrade (I kid you not) and we enjoyed the most fabulous holiday gorge walking, mountain biking, canoeing, abseiling etc. Superb value for money and Arran is simply beautiful and surprisingly quiet. Super friendly and professional staff. Clean and well kitted out bunkhouse accommodation. Thank you all.

We stayed here for two nights B&B. Really excellent place - clean, comfortable accommodation, our children were chuffed to bits having their own room and en suite! Staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was great - lots to eat and choose from. Some great walks nearby. A really relaxing stay and would definitely recommend.

The owners Liz and Stuart couldn't have been more accommodating during our stay. It was really refreshing to see two people so passionate and enthusiastic about their jobs. The location of the centre was idyllic - we even saw a whole herd of red deer right outside! Very family friendly atmosphere and the activities going on seemed really well organised and fun. The perfect getaway in Arran. We will be back!
