Always dealt with Melrose for my skip hire.Nothing is ever too much hassle for them.Tam is a great friend and always looks after me.
There may well be cheaper companies out there,but I'd rather pay that little extra for great service.

Upon collecting the skip at my property, the company caused damage that could not have been foreseen by any reasonable customer.

Without my prior knowledge, they brought a second full skip to my property to stack upon the skip when collecting. Loose car parts fell from the other skip and damaged my fence, wall and gate. Driver tried to claim it wasn't him - basically was untruthful to us. We have photos and video. Gate clearly marked with red paint from the car part and we found debris from the car door on the ground.

I complained and the company originally asked me to send in photographs of the damage and they would check the truck's onboard cameras; I was reassured by phone it would be looked at and made right.

When it was passed to management however, I was flatly told it was company policy that they took no responsibility for damage in customer driveways. This "clause" appeared on the job sheet that I didn't personally sign; it was booked by my contractor and I had no choice in the skip company. I just got given the job sheet when skip was delivered, and it was already pre-signed by someone else.

Such a clause is fair enough with regard to damaging the ground with jacks, or material falling from *your own* skip. Nowhere is a customer made aware that the company indulges in "skip stacking" (considered bad practice by the HSE) and that there may be a risk of them bringing *other material* onto your property which then falls and causes damage. No customer could reasonably foresee such an incident.

To be fair to my contractor, he made good on the broken fence panel at his cost, but I had to pay for additional new panels so the fence looks consistent.

I still have a six year old, £1500 gate with damaged powder coating, and cracked wall, and this needs to be rectified at some point as the gate is sagging. What I don't have is the time or energy to pursue this through the small claims process at the minute.

If the company had been more responsive and reasonable, seeing that the fault was clearly theirs for bringing another overloaded skip to my property, over the sake of a small amount of money and goodwill, they could have avoided me having to leave a review like this. Beware.

Had 2 Skips from them, 16 Yard then a drop and replace 8 Yard. Service beyond outstanding, great price, quick delivery and uplift and despite the drop off location being awkward they had absolutely no problem delivering so drivers were also fantastic.

Ordered our first skip after a recommendation, much better price than local competitors. Phoned up and payed over the phone quickly, delivered next day. Chap was very polite, no issues then 2 weeks later once skip filled we phoned up, same day skip was lifted. Will be using again for front garden project.
Looks like for once a decent COMPETENT company.
Edit: ordered our second skip and once again amazing quick service and lifted the same day when called. Will recommend to anyone else needing a skip.

I use Melrose for all skips I order and they have always came on the day I have needed and never had a problem, guy delivering the skips has always been great as well and happy to adjust were the skip is going!

Going to start ordering their type 1 aggregate as well soon as there price is fantastic great for anyone doing DIY or small/large business.

Overall I would say that all my interactions have been pleasant and they have always provided me with a top service and made me feel like part of their client base.

I don't usually write reviews but was so impressed with their service I wanted to share my experience using Watson Skip Hire. They were recommended to me. I phoned and spoke to a gentleman (sorry I can't recall the name) who was very polite and informative. I ordered a skip and paid over the phone before delivery. The skip was delivered on the day they confirmed. I contacted them again by phone to organise the pick up. The skip was picked up the next day after my request.
