I absolutely adore Quarry Bank Mill, we often go for a walk here as we are NT members and it's not far from home.
It's a really pleasant place to visit, especially in term time when it is quieter. The gardens are gorgeous, wonderful walks all round the area, mostly dog friendly but not in the mill as expected.
Volunteers and staff are all wonderful. We walked down to the little church as we had never been and saw all the old houses, so adorable and charming. The school is in use and I love the look of it as it has that real village feel ♡
Just marvellous 😀

A Wonderful Accessible Walk for All Abilities - We had a lovely morning walk at Quarry Bank with my special needs daughter, who has limited mobility. The experience was fantastic—peaceful, well-organized, and very accessible.
Parking was free and convenient, and we appreciated that entry to the outdoor walking paths was also free (only the gardens and certain facilities require a ticket was explained to us by the staff). The trails were well-signposted and easy to navigate with the provided map, making it stress-free for us to explore.
The paths were well-maintained, smooth, and manageable for my daughter’s mobility needs. It’s rare to find such a beautiful, natural space that caters so thoughtfully to visitors of all abilities.
I highly recommend to families with children and anyone with limited mobility. It’s a welcoming, serene place to enjoy nature without any hassle. We’ll definitely be back!

A fantastic place to visit. We took the grandchildren but found that the pram could not be accommodated - our fault entirely but the pram stores were full so could not tour the mill together. Wish we had taken the baby carrier for the 4 month old! An extensive place that would easily fill an entire day!!

One of the Trust's properties which is full of social history. The Mill with working machines, giving real insight into working conditions, to the adjacent owners house. The jewel is the apprentice house, where the children who worked in the Mill, lived.
Take the guided tour of the apprentice house, my guide was full of knowledge. There's plenty to see in the Mill, and also some good walking trails in the grounds. An excellent day out . Good on site cafe, serving the usual range of Trust offerings.

Had a wonderful visit today on a beautiful and quiet day. The gardens and woods were stunning.

We started off about 10.15 with the full trail walk through the Giant's Castle Bridge. The walk led us to the airport perimeter just in time to see the Emirates land about 11.50. We sat at a clearing with a picnic and watched planes for an hour before heading back.

We then spent a few more hours relaxing in the upper garden with beautiful views of the mill and gardens below, including the colourful flowers in bloom.

Friday 20th June
An excellent NT site to visit, adequate parking on site.
Cafe, toilet facilities, plant sales all on site as standard for NT.
Large grounds to explore and fantastic buildings to go around.
The Mill was excellent, fully functioning equipment, that the experienced and knowledgeable machine operators show you them working and explain their function, well worth seeing.
The Apprentice 's house is an additional tour I would highly recommend.
We had "Richard" who undertook the tour and his enthusiasm and knowledge was brilliant, tours can sometimes get a little boring, not here, his passion for the subject keeps you listening and interested throughout.
I would highly recommend taking this tour before visiting the Mill, it gives you a much better picture of the times and the working/living environment.

The cotton mill is still working and the inside tour was very interesting. I bought a glass cloth woven here!
The garden was so big that we couldn’t see it all in one day.
In summer there were special events for children, with soft play and activities both in the garden and inside the mill. My kids had so much fun!
We also had pizza from a food stall and it was delicious. 🍕
I’d love to visit again.

Lovely place to visit and spread out over a large area. Lots of people, but not crowded. Nice picnic area with a play area. Staff on site very knowledgeable and informative. Will visit again.
