My very strong advice is to avoid this company.
This is not one of your average one star rants.
I will try to explain my balanced advice.
My business has been a customer of Northern gas and power for many years and for many years I have been very happy.
Sadly things went very wrong in 2023.
The sales representative from Northern Gas and Power sold my wife (and business partner) a long gas extension contract on the promise that if rates drop in the future the contract can be renegotiated to the lower rate.
This promise was not correct and represented mis selling.
Northern Gas and Power ignored my requests to cancel the mis sold contract and failed to respond to my official complaints by email and web form.
I passed my complaint to the Energy Ombudsman for independent review and arbitration.
Northern Gas and Power failed to engage in the arbitration process and failed to respond to any of the ombudsman’s questions.
The ombudsman’s ruling was that Northern Gas and Power had mis sold the gas contract to my wife by mis representing their ability to renegotiate should rates change.
The ombudsman ruled that Northern gas and Power must arrange for the mis sold contract to be cancelled and meet all of the cancellation charges (likely to be several thousand pounds).
The ombudsman ruled that Northern Gas and Power must apologise to me for mis selling and for their poor customer service.
The ombudsman ruled that Northern Gas and power must pay me compensation for the inconvenience caused by their mis selling.
The reason for my one star review and my strong advice to avoid this company is not because of the mis sold contract. I accept that anyone can make a mistake.
My one star review and strong avoid advice is because Northern Gas and Power failed to engage with the ombudsman and 8 weeks after the ombudsman’s decision they continue to ignore it and continue to fail to action the ombudsman’s decision.
Northern gas and power’s refusal to follow its ombudsman’s legally binding decision shows them to be corporately arrogant, incapable of regulation and out of control.
A company that fails respond to its own regulator like that is dangerous and not one to do business with.

Avoid this company at all costs. The brokers will force you to sign long term contracts promising they can go back to suppliers and reduce the rates when prices drop. This does not happen. The broker John Minogue disappeared and the new broker doesn't know anything about such a policy. Complete scam artists. Please note you always get better rates going direct to suppliers. Brokers will tell you they can secure better wholesale rates due to their volume but this is a complete lie.

Avoid at all costs - it's a con!!! They will lie and push to get a sale at all costs, then take zero responsibility for anything. Rachel Mccabe pushed to get us in a 'contract by 1st October', assured BY EMAIL that if the market rate drops this will reflect on our bills - the contract started 25 days after 1st October which resulted in an extortionate electricity bill on out of contract rates, the rate on the contract never changed and never will as no one know what Rachel was on about, and they stopped answering my emails altogether now. A disgraceful company - seriously avoid at all costs. P.S. their rate wasn't good anyway as I called other brokers the day after and they were all able to beat NGP's rate by miles.

Brilliant Service-We had to make contact to sort out some invoicing queries. Whilst it appears our usual contact is now on xmas break we were helped by Donna who forwarded the missing invoices and arranged to sort out our queries within the hour. Previously, our usual contact Leon worked tirelessly on our behalf to ensure we received the best value for our energy supply.

Our company had previously had fraud committed on our gas and electric contracts. We were stuck for around 8 months, we were contacted by Northern Gas and Power and we were reluctant to work with another broker or give a letter of authority.

Debbie Allman made it so easy she was able to get a good contract, arrange a erroneous transfer and helped us get VAT back which we would otherwise not be able to get back.

I would highly recommend these guys in particular Debbie.

Northern Gas and Power have just sorted out 3 phase installation and 36 month contract with Positive Energy at one of our Mixed-Use sites. Very efficient, responsive and reliable service. Highly recommend!
