Had an install last year in February, all went well. A month later had a major leak in my roof, found to be a broken tile under one of the solar panels. I had major water damage in the hall and was told it was down to the contractor to rectify. Nearly a year later and I had to get someone in to do it, and still havnt been reimbursed.
Worse still I have been having issues with one of my inverters. I have contacted them by phone, but nobody answers. I have emailed multiple times, different representatives that I emailed over the course of the install, and logged it on to there system and havnt received anything back. I have contacted the contractor who installed it, and they have said it’s down to otovo.

We had a PV and battery system installed through Otovo last year and have been having some problems the past few months. They have not responded to any of my emails or support requests and they have removed all ways of contacting them unless you go through their AI chatbot! After such an expensive investment I'm very disappointed in the after sales experience and am hoping this review prompts them to get in touch with me.

Won't fix my broken system.

As of Sep 2024 - my system has not been working for the best part of two months. I have been in regular contact with Otovo who keep promising to get an engineer out to fix it but so far, nothing has actually happened.

Below is my old review, for when my system was working. What is makes me think is... you get what you pay for! I couldn't currently advise anyone to go with Otovo as they don't seem to be able to fix problems with systems they have installed.

Best price great comms. Otovo was price competitive and their agent was efficient and effective and handling my numerous questions, including around changing the spec of the kit and exploring different options.

I expect Otovo drive a pretty hard deal with their installers, so it was looking like the install lead time was going to be many months. Fortunately, a company did accept it as their Friday 'before going home' job, a bolt-on to presumably a more lucrative job for their own company. They installed my simple small rig (8 panels, Growatt inverter, Pylontech battery) in one day and did a good job - only one hole in the wall where it wasn't meant to be!

Six months in and all working very smoothly. The Growatt software isn't the best but it's good enough - especially if you're not doing anything more technical with it - though you can do that with a bit of persistence. I'm even thinking about buying another battery! Very satisfied customer.

Jina, Stephen, and the rest of the team at Otovo have been super friendly, helpful, and communicative. They never shied away from answering our calls and informed us of each step along the way. The installation of the solar panels came and went without any major disruptions and the installers were very courteous and wanted to ensure we received the best level of care. The installers were also open and honest and informed us beforehand where there was likely to be any damage but reassured us that would be rectifying any issues before signing off on the job. We certainly found this a very pleasant experience and would have no issues recommending the company to friends and family!

I am really disappointed with the service. During the quotation process, Jina was amazing. She really knew what she was talking about and went above and beyond. Since other people have got involved, things have been poor. I sent numerous emails and no one replied for weeks on end. They done the install and there was a few issues. I tried raising these but no one replied. I even tried complaining to sun generic email and a manager contacted me, Bilal. Initially, I thought he was listening to me but it quickly became evident he wasn’t. He would call me back with no answers and miss half of things we spoke about. To date, nothing has been sorted and he only offered to increase the referral amount from £200 to £400 which is not helpful as I have had a poor experience so far so won’t be referring anyone.

Excellent Service From Otovo

Our electricity supply system is slightly unusual as it is 3-phase and an Economy 7 tariff. We also have some partial tree shading issues. None of this phased Otovo whereas one or two other solar companies had baulked at one of them. Simena at Otovo was very helpful and happily produced and priced a few different solar systems and options for me. In the end I went for 15 panels in two arrays, a 6kw inverter and a modular 5kw battery.
System installed and set up in two days. The installer also pigeon proofed the panels for me, this is not included in Otovo's quote. Some solar installers automatically include it but others don't. I also liked the fact that Otovo only wanted payment after the system was installed.
The only real issue came with the installed FusionSolar smart management system in that its default is it doesn't automatically allow users to set up and adjust time of use settings for the battery, which one might require with Economy 7 or some of the new multi-rate tariffs. However, Ali at Otovo sorted that out for me so I now have full control.
Huawei very quickly answered one or two queries I sent them about their recommendations for charge settings. To deal with the shade issues I have optimisers on each panel.
The system is working really well and I can see via the app what each panel is generating at any instant plus the generation history. SEG tariff now set up but I expect I will add another battery module next year.

A very efficient and competitively priced installation. As neighbours have told us post installation tuning was required. Otovo guys were most efficient at obtaining expert involvement and sorted in two weeks what seems to have taken others months. Great job!
