Where would I be without Outside In Garden rooms?!

Mel & the Outside In team have worked wonders on what must have been an extremely challenging build (i.e. a heavily sloped garden with limited access via stairs). To put it in perspective, I had been trying for close to a year to hire a landscaper to take on the job - with no takers. Fast forward to Outside In hiring Darren (their in-house landscaper), and it was as if the stars had aligned - I always knew I wanted an Outside In room (after viewing it in person at the Ideal Home Show in 2019), so I took the plunge to have both the room built and the garden landscaped by Outside In.

When discussing plans for the room, Mel was so patient in providing quotes and visualisations for my constantly shifting requirements (i.e. adjusting room dimensions, adding IRO cladding or a sedum roof, changing out the bi-folds doors etc!) Mel was also on hand to help me measure out the dimensions on site and discuss possibilities regarding two bifold windows for the corner of the room. (Mel also set my mind at ease when she told me all the planning application admin is dealt with by Outside In. Phew!)

The same was true for the quotes for the garden clearance and landscaping work- Darren & Mel were on site to discuss options and the logistics around the works & access issues. Working with these two was a dream - their motto - ‘No such thing as impossible, just a bigger challenge’.

The garden clearance was a huge manual job carting two full skips worth of rotten decking down 30-odd steps to street level. Darren & Stuart managed to blitz it in 3 days!

The guys from No More Digging were excellent too - they laid the ground screws within a day and although I’m sure they had some challenges with the soil & obstacles, they were upbeat & professional.

The build of the room was completed within 2 and a half weeks, all while contending with Storm Eowyn. The guys were great at boarding up the unfinished room ahead of the storm so I didn’t need to worry about anything flying away!

All the joiners were fantastic - nothing was a bother! Any challenges were faced with the utmost professionalism. i.e. the fitting of the two bespoke bifold windows must have been challenging, but Gus simply branded it as a ‘bit footery’!

The landscaping of the garden, I cannot fault. Darren managed to navigate a mini digger along a tiny lane at the back of our house, allowing us to create distinct sleeper levels to the garden. Stuart & William managed to clear skip loads of rubble & bring up new pebbles all while using a small power barrow (an 8 minute journey from the back of the garden, along a lane, to the skip at street level). The Outside In team also put down a significant composite decking area for us and created a lovely bespoke wooden balustrade using the same cladding as the room. The garden complements the room beautifully.

Mel also suggested that we use some sedum mats on a challenging sloped area of the garden, and it looks divine.

This was the largest but most streamlined home improvement I’ve ever undertaken. I’ve never been so at ease while having work done - I’ll genuinely miss having the Outside In team around! There was none of the stress at all that you sometimes see on ‘Grand Designs’ - everything was exceptional & seamless. Everyone I’ve encountered has been professional, conscientious, knowledgeable, reliable, trustworthy & with an exceptional work ethic. You’re in very safe hands when you choose Outside In for your garden room build.

All in all, I’m bloomin’ delighted!!! Outside In made my dream room & garden a reality. Thank you!

Thank you very much Outside In for our wonderful Garden Room! From the initial contact with Mel, all the way through to hand-over of our room, the full process was fantastic and really enjoyable. Great communication and support from the start to get the design of our room right for what we wanted. Our build was planned in and started on schedule even though we had added to the landscaping scope to get the finish we wanted, and this was all in the middle of winter. The landscaping team led by Darren and Stuart were first in and were first class. Great attention to detail to get the levels and finishes we wanted while at the same time keeping the garden (and street!) spotless through out. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team. The build was then led by Harry, Gus and the team - again first class - great communication throughout, accommodated the changes, and the quality of the build exceeded our already high expectations. The team (joiners, landscapers, electricians, painter and cleaners) took great pride in their work, they were all very professional, and all were scheduled seamlessly at the right time throughout the build for an efficient process which got the room completed in no time at all. If you are thinking about a garden room, we would definitely recommend Outside In! We’ve had use of the room for a few weeks now and are so happy we made the investment. Outside In did an outstanding job building my garden room. Not only was I left with a fabulous room which exceeded my expectations but the whole experience was great. Wendy and her team were very professional and approachable. They handled horrendous weather, changing customer requirements and difficult neighbours in their stride.
Nothing was too much trouble whether it was hanging a large picture in my garden room or fixing bike storage hooks. The team were highly skilled and delivered a very high quality product. The landscaping and paving was designed as we went as I hadn’t really decided what I wanted and the final result is completely stunning. The whole team were so friendly and pleasant to deal with I looked forward to their arrival every day . I would wholeheartedly recommend Outside In to anyone considering a garden room

My garden room was built in January 2023 so I feel I’ve had it long enough to give an honest review! From the beginning Mel and her team were amazing, especially as my marriage broke down between the ground screws being installed and construction starting. Nothing was too much trouble and they were sensitive to my life at that point in time, giving me plenty of notice about anything I had to make decisions on. They were a friendly team and the internal dimensions were changed when they were onsite due to a change of use. There was no snagging required and everything finished to an exceptionally high standard.

I have worked in the building for over a year now running my own business. The internet connection is hardwired so I never lose connection during a zoom call and it is lovely and warm both summer and winter. I also host a little community knitting group in it and everyone comments how warm it is. I highly recommend outsidein garden rooms if you are considering purchasing a garden room.

Absolutely love our Garden Room and Utility Area. What a transformation from the leaky old garage that used to be on this site. Mel and the team took our initial idea from conception to reality and delivered true excellence through every stage of the process.
