Took my SSSTS refresher course today (18/10/24) with Lee Sadd. Having never done any courses online/zoom style was a bit tentative as to how it would go. Lee put us all at ease right from the get go, told us a bit about himself and his experience/knowledge (which was vast). He then gave us good, clear information throughout with pointers in between on what to expect. All his interactions on screen were clear, precise and well thought out and very easy to follow. All in all a very good two day course that I'd be more than happy to do again when needed and would definitely recommend Lee and SAMS to other users and colleagues.

The online asbestos course is the most tedious thing I've ever had to do at work. There is a minimum countdown timer for each page which you have to just sit through and wait. This course could be completed in 30% of the time.

For example, there are quiz questions, which you can very easily answer in 4 or 5 seconds, but there is a minimum timer of 25-45 seconds on all of them while you wait for the narrator to read the question, then there's an additional 10 second countdown after the narrator has finished. Even if you answer the questions correctly you have to sit there listening to the narrator reading the pointless multiple guess answers like, "only if you eat the asbestos."

At one point there is a page with a 60 second timer that just says, you've come to the end of a section of the course. It's so obviously done to pad out time and extend the course. This is the perfect way to make your students switch off and disengage from the course material. Literally the worst online training course I've had to do. I did pass these concerns on when i first had to do the course a few years ago and nothing has changed.

Also the sound levels are all over the place. you'll turn the volume right up because you can hardly hear it, then on the next slide you're having your eardrums blown out.

Everyone at my work has to do this course annually and its dreaded by everyone. absolutely terrible.
