I would give this place a zero but had to leave a minimum 1 star.

So, today at about 4.30pm, I headed into Sainsburys. I went to the till and waited behind a customer who was taking a while paying up and he was searching for something more behind the till. A young english male assistant was behind the till. I decided to purchase through the self service and as I went through the process something went wrong with that particular machine. It was quiet in store with no one else queuing and so I went to the self service till that was working.

I proceeded to put my shopping through the till myself. The sales assistant in question stood right next to me and remarked in a loud voice - how he hates it when people do these kinds of things. (meaning - walk away from the sell service till). He had another customer waiting to be served.

He was shocked when I remarked - I'm the person that did that. At which point he remarked - I gathered. I then proceeded to ask him if he was upset? At which point he said - no - then kind of.
I said - well perhaps you needn't be as it's most definitely not worth your energy.

How does this man think customers feel in his prescence. It was rude and unkind, and if he had to prove a point he should just speak directly to me. He was shocked that I spoke to him and quite frankly I couldn't wait to leave the shop, - what a jerk - I thought as I left the shop.

I have seen this sales assistant in the shop before and he is particularly unfriendly to people, he is unwelcoming and he needs to stop judging people on who he thinks they are. Perhaps it was a colour issue, I have no idea but whatever it is, I wasn't about to sit there and take it.

I will still shop there as the other women staff are brilliant but suffice to say, this guy could learn a thing or two about serving customers from his new seasonal staff, and treat all types of customers in a friendly and open manner and NOT a stand offish rude way.

I wasn't going to write this review but I felt he had to know how he makes his customers feel.

The lady behind me coming directly out of the shop caught up with me and agreed that he could have handled things better.Thats just great, continue doing those kind of things infront of your other customers, and you will be popular.

Did he think I was not going to say anything ?

So rude and unwelcoming.
I have no intention of speaking to him again in that shop and please do ask him to avoid me!

Please do feel free to send him on a customer service course of some kind.

If he hates the way customers are, he needs to quit his job!

There is a saying - customers wont always remember the good things you do (though I tend to) but they will ALWAYS remember the way you make them feel.

Incredibly small shop with very limited options. And in comparison with other Sainsburys this one is by far the worst in this area. Self Checkout tends to break as well as a 5 pound note didn't come out as my change.

It's a small Sainsbury's, you wouldn't want to do your weekly shop here, but it's convenient for emergencies, has most things at reasonable prices, all be it more expensive than a proper supermarket. There's no parking though which can be an issue.

Decent sized shop with all necessary items. They also got a Argos collection point and free cash machine. Asian grocery items are not available, however it can't be expected in a british dominant area with not even 1% of Asian population.

While stock is overpriced compared to a full Sainsbury's (as is typical of these 'mini' stores), the customer service I had today was awful. As I did not have ID when attempting to purchase energy drinks (despite being 28 and looking well over the 'under 25' requirement for ID), I was not allowed to purchase these items.

Instead of being apologetic or showing the least bit of courtesy for the inconvenience, the salesperson merely started removing the items from my packed bag with a "You need ID", acting as if I wasn't there half the time and the rest of the time acting like, talking like, and giving off the air of a parent scolding a naughty schoolchild, rather than a salesperson interacting with a customer.

Politeness doesn't cost much and if a customer is being courteous, then so should the staff. I won't be shopping here again.
