Well I recently took my vehicle to be smogged there and they took an hour half to tell me that my cars computer wasn't set so they failed the smog test despite the car not having any battery issues/electrical shortages or check engine lights. When I asked them to do a retest, they said it would cost an additional charge even though there is no problems to be found.
No flexibility or good service to be found from this store. Nothing but stiff prices and inadequately trained staff trying to work an angle of finding anyway possible to bill you without providing a honest service.

Quick and Efficient Service

I’ve visited San Luis Auto Repair & Smog for an emissions test for both my vehicles. I am always pleasantly surprised by the quality of service I received, and the staff is friendly and professional.
The emissions tests itself were quick and efficient, and I was in and out of the shop in no time. I appreciated how the staff were respectful of my time and made sure to complete the test promptly.
In addition to the excellent service, the shop was clean and well-maintained.
Overall, I had a great experience at San Luis Auto Repair & Smog and would highly recommend them to others. If you're looking for a reliable and efficient smog shop, this is the place to go!

Called after 4pm to ask about same day smog testing. Go lost on the way there, as I'm not from the area and showed up quite late. They still got me in and were very, very kind. Both the guy at the desk and doing the vehicle check made the process simple. Appreciate the friendly staff a ton!

Dishonesty in pricing...
I initially spoke with the manager, Daniel, on the phone and described our 22ft RV in detail and asked how much it would cost to have it smogged. He told us it would be either $65 or $110, and they wouldn't be able to make that determination until we brought it in. When we brought it in the charged was $115. I asked another employee how they determine if they charge the lower or higher price for an RV. He told me that the price for any Rv is always the same--$115. That did not gel with what Daniel had told us on the phone. So we paid them $115.

Poor customer service...
When the tech finished the smog test he told us that we had failed one part of the test. He asked me if the battery had gone dead or had been disconnected recently. I explained that it had, as we had just retrieved the RV from storage and had disconnected the battery. He informed me that in the case of a disconnected battery, you had to drive the vehicle for a minimum of 25 miles, both highway and stop and go to "awaken" the vehicle computer, otherwise the smog test would fail. He directed us to put some miles on it and come back and he would quick test the RV computer to see if it was ready for a smog test.

An hour later we returned, pulled up in front of the shop, and in one minute he confirmed that our RV was now ready for a smog test. It passed with no problems. Then we were handed another bill for $115. I pointed out to Daniel that no one had told us about the issue that a disconnected battery could cause a negative test result and asked if he could either wave the second bill or perhaps give us a discount. He told me that he would not.

I suggested that perhaps he should let customers know in advance about the problems that a disconnected battery might pose, so that they wouldn't be charged twice for a smog test. He said he didn't have time to relate that to every customer. I pointed out that it would take about 10 seconds to ask that simple question and that might save the customer from having to pay twice the amount they were originally quoted. He insisted that would be too much of an inconvenience. I pointed out that the shop technician was able in less than a minute to determine if our RV computer was ready for a second smog test and asked why that was not a standard practice for any smog test they were about to do. Again, he said they didn't have time to do that. It literally took one minute and they don't have time! These are terrible service policies that potentially double the customer's cost!

My advice. Save yourself $$$. Go somewhere else where they do a second test for free if your vehicle fails the first one! There are smog services that offer that courtesy.

Provided good service on a walk in smog check. Very grateful for quick assistance with replacing burnt out brake bulbs. I will take additional repair work here.
