I had a failed MOT due to the previous owner lying about many issues and was worried about not having a car for a few weeks to get the issue sorted, a few other places completely turned down looking at my car due to the age but Shergold motors got me booked in quickly and assured me they'd do they're best, which they did. Went in for MOT and Service. They were super fast and let me know I needed my suspension fixed (I knew there was an issue before I went in just wasn’t sure of specifics) and they sorted it same day. Super friendly guys and very fast service!

Both myself and my family have been going to J Shergolds for years and years. The Shergolds are close family friends. So we where saddened to learn that John (original owner) had to "pass the baton", due to ill health. But he promised us, nothing would change.
Since April 2018 my car has been in with Shergolds every other month. (MOT in April, replacement clutch in June and this most recent visit which has lead to this review) So I called them on 23/07/18 citing that there was a knocking noise when turning hard left and mounting the curb, going over speed bumps etc - I do feel it pertinent to note that this noise only began to present itself since they had changed the clutch (this was a mini episode in itself).
It was agreed that I would drop my car off at 08.30am as per usual and take it from there.
14:00 - no word at all. I had a missed call from a private number, thinking it was them, I called and enquired if it was. To which I was met with the response from Les (the new owner) "I haven't called you yet, we'll be in touch soon."
16:50 - Still no update at all. So I called again and asked Les what the state of play was - I was informed that he had personally taken it for a test drive (for 10 miles - Was dropped of to them with 30.9 miles and when eventually picked up 40.1 miles) and although he heard the noise - it was permanent and they were at a loss.
It was at this point I understandably was not impressed at all and voiced my concerns to, Les. He asked me would I like them take another look at it the following day? Obviously having been a day without my car or any communication from the garage, in whose care I left it in. I was not prepared to leave with them any longer and stated I would be seeking a second opinion. At which point, in the most condescending tone I have ever heard from any one "I'm sorry you feel that way, what is it that we have done to upset you."
Not wanting to feed into this - I abruptly ended the conversation with - "I'm on my way to pick up my car." After being told moments before they close at 17:15
Now on the drive home from the garage, I heard the knocking /clunking noise no less than three times, when turning left and going over speed bumps - as described above. With the most obvious CLUNK when turning left and mounting the pavement to get onto my drive.
Now I am not a mechanic however both my ex partners are and with the military so I know roughly what to look for. Previously thinking that this noise was coming from underneath I got down on the drive surface and proceeded to look under the car - NOTHING - nothing loose, unhinged or otherwise.
It was at this point I checked the wheel arch, where suspension components are located and low and behold I see this...Please see attached picture.

Not only did this garage have my car for an entire day, they failed to actually look at it (taking the wheel off would have made the root cause of my complaint very evident) they drove my car 10 miles (for what can only be put down to "for the hell of it.") and told me that there is nothing wrong.

I have taken pictures of both wheel arches for comparison. The "warped" one is the drivers side and the "normal" is the passenger side.

Also baring in mind they had the car in for MOT in April and then back in in June for the clutch and this wasn't picked up.

This review has been posted to all available review sites, I will also be sending this to VOSA and reporting this to Trading Standards. This level of professional neglect cannot be ignored - I urge you to not use this garage - IT IS NOT WHAT IS USED TO BE.
