the whole booking and installation process was smooth and clear, they would advise you clearly the next step and what would be expected via message. It took nearly 5hrs for the technician to instal my Tesla gen 3 wall connector, he did a very good job, sorry that it made him late which took 3hrs back to London. Highly recommend!

They sub-contract eletricians. The one they did, besides doing a super bad install at first, they also drilled trough my soil pipe. Mind you, this was 6 months ago. It took them over 3 months to come and repair the soil pipe (and its still leaking). The wall is still not plastered or fixed. Smart home charge seems to not care at all, not answering to emails. Making me deal with the eletricians they sub-contracted, when I paid Smart Home Charge, not the eletrician. Here I am, 6 months after, with still a destroyed wall, and the eletricians are telling me they are waiting on insurance. Smart home charge doesn't even answer my emails anymore.

Pay a bit extra and go with a proper company.

I wouldn’t recommend these at all.

Some of the issues seem to be common with all installation companies. You go through the process of giving them all the information, you are forced to pay up front, and only then do you get told the installation date.

In this case, the installation date was almost a month away.

Octopus ended up being cheaper and could be installed within 2 weeks.

When I tried to cancel with Smarthomecharge, they stung me with £55 cancellation fee and tried to charge me £15 to collect the charger, even though I hadn’t received it.

They charge you if the DNO notification has been sent, but they send the notification before you have any idea of the installation date.

I get that I am partially to blame, as the terms and conditions stated this, but it seems very underhanded. Clearly, it's just a way to get money off of people for nothing.

It is worth noting that Octopus and others don’t practice such underhanded tactics.
