Update to our issue with Solidor… 9th July 2025. Following this review being posted I was contacted by Masonite (Solidor owner) who have offered to replace the slab. It’s taken since March but I’m pleased the issue is going to be resolved.

We had a Solidor fitted in 2017. Cost £1700. Now it’s cracking badly. “ Due to sunlight, expansion and contraction”. I contacted Solidor.. No response. We contacted the insurance provided by the fitters. No joy!
It’s a front door !!!! If it can’t stand UK weather it can’t be fit for purpose. I would expect a bit more durability. Solidor promote their 10 year guarantee ( with the supplier not the customer)
My advice . Don’t touch Solidor with a barge pole !!!

Wow - I wish I saw these reviews before. It wouldn't have save us but would help reinforce my concerns that these are terrible doors. We have now had our third reinstall of Solidor in the last 3 years with significant bowing and complete failure of the door. I am requesting a refund from the distributor as they should know better that allow such substandard products to be produced and sold. Its been one week since the new door has been installed it has suffered a serious failure and has bowed so much we cannot close the door properly. Avoid completely!

Last week engineer Steve was very helpful, efficiently fitting our new front door. It is unfortunate that this was the third such door in just over two years. As developers, we have never encountered bowing in a composite door and I remain hopeful this particular design will now overcome the issue. Thank you for the swift warranty replacement.

2nd door fitted and after a year, this one in now aslo starting to split.

They blamed the sun the first time. If a door it meant to be in the sun how can they use that excuse.

Even the fixtures (post box and handles) are corroding. Yes, they do get cleand and polished. Would be better off with a solid wooden door.

Had issues with my door(installed 2018) cracking and warping. Contacted Solidor with proof of installation and evidence that installer had ceased trading. Solidor Engineer visited and confirmed issue and said the door design and manufacture has improved since then and new door replaced hassle free under warranty 👍

Well I survived another year without having to use my Front door as an actual door...because it's a Solidor and won't actually open!
Luckily for me we didn't have a house fire and burn to death trapped behind a jammed door.
And security wise, incredible, but it would have been cheaper to just brick up the doorway 🙄
...don't bother, read the reviews, buy a door that actually functions as a door, not a Solidor

DO NOT USE THEM!!!! My parents have had an AWFUL time with their door. The first one was fitted 3 years ago, they are now on their 3rd door and still can’t use it! They have used their side gate and back doors more than the front door. The handle has now just fallen off this door!

10/01/22. I have just witnessed the state of the door supplied by Solidor to an installer in Horncastle for my home.
It was unwrapped to reveal (objectively):
(1) Breached protection film in multiple areas, abraded sufficiently that, in particular, the top edge of the door skin is abraded right through to the wood core at one corner. This would permit water ingress. Subjectively, it does not look like abrasion after manufacture, it looks like an incorrectly applied and inadequately inspected manufacture error. I have witnessed what occurs when the wood core becomes exposed, as the original door is being replaced due to skin de-lamination, exposing the core and attracting mould after just 4 yrs.
(2) One of the door facings is sufficiently mis-aligned that the casement aperture's ridged profile (around the perimeter of the aperture) is protruding and visible from under the frame cover/trim. The trim also sits proud of the door skin due to this.
the installer and I chose not to examine any further for the above reasons. The door remains with the installer awaiting a resolution.
I trust that the installer will be in touch accordingly with images of the evidence. I have retained my own evidence.
My confidence in Solidor to produce a door that is correctly manufactured, cared for in transit, and fit for purpose for a fair and reasonable duty and lifespan is rapidly diminishing. If I had the option to choose a door from a company other than Solidor at this point I would do so without hesitation.
I welcome a response from Solidor.
