If only I can give 1 million negative starts!
I have been passed on to literally 5 people explaining the same thing over and over again back and forth the customer service and their accounts department. I have been sent a revised bill covering 2 months of £1.2k for a two bed property, ridiculous. I usually consume around 150 to 250 pounds max for the same period. The customer service guys seem to easily get that it is odd and is more than 10x my usual consumption so obviously wrong. I get transferred to the accounts department who won’t even listen to my explanation and surely convinced their meter readings are billings are infallible. Now, 5th agent in, I am still going through the same explanation over and over again. Previous agents haven’t noted anything before passing me on. Very very disappointing and frustrating. The worst ever customer service experience I had ever!!!!
If they provide your service, get out!!!!!

Absolutly awful service. After emailing them for my final bill several times and calling them i never recieved my final bill for a year!. Instead tried to charge me a delayed fee charge of over £200!plus my bill charge after a year! When it was there fault in the first place delaying the whole payment. You should be shut down causing people stress by not doing your job properly! Discusting. Would give you 0 if i could. Con artists!

Very poor customer service; they will put you on hold and then cut you off without even getting back to you. I genuinely believe they financially exploit people because they keep charging outrageous amounts. Just leave if you don't want to be swindled. Each time you call each staff member will tell you something different to keep your direct debit up.

Absolutely awful customer service. Will lie to you and put you on and off hold while demanding money

When I switched to Octopus I still received a bill from SSE for estimated usage for the time I was with Octopus, even though Octopus notified them of the switch. I then received threatening emails and letters. On the phone I was told Octopus had not provided sufficient evidence. They kept "transferring me" to the home moves team and placing me on indefinite hold. Prepare to be on hold for 30-40 minutes at a time in between speaking to people who can't help you and sound like they are speaking to you from inside a tunnel.

Just moved I to a new home of which SSE provide both gas and electric to. Have tried 4 days to speak to someone to get sorted so that I can actually have electric and gas. Yet told it would take 21 days to set up and until I get the cards/key to top up meters. Explaining that you're chronically ill with ms, osteoarthritis, raynauards etc did t seem like much off a problem for them. Until its sorted I can't have my boiler uncapped by my landlord. Fuming. Luckily my old energy supplier has filled out a for. On .y behalf so that they can take over the supplies and get me back to normal ASAP. As long as SSE call me to confirm this.

Do NOT get your electrical provided by SSE. I know people love to complain and I try to be a reasonable customer but honestly SSE has been appalling to work with. They have had an inaccurate estimate for our electrical for months and I’ve called at least 10 times to dispute the claim only to have our bill go up £200 literally over night. Avoid working with them at all costs.

I regret to say that in my experience SSE adapted the most disgraceful methods to squeeze money for the energy they did not supply and an account that did not exist as far as I am concerned. The duration for which the outstanding bill they referred to was covered by my default energy company with whom I stayed for decades. This was a historic event going back to 2018.I have defended This was not the first time they did this, They are asking me to pay for another historic bill during 2018 for a buy to let where I never lived nor did I have an account with them. I have defended that issue by providing proofs and documents and they eventually apologised and closed. No sooner did that happen than another debt collector's notice from them relating to the same issue. Again after defending that again going through stress and strain, they this invoice relates to my home address. Dear friends my home address has been supplied by EDF and I had no connection to any account or I have not even heard of who SSE is. Such is the terror SSE inflicts if you are unaware of their misdeeds.This is a company one should not touch with a barge pole.

This is by far the worst company in the world. Me and my partner moved in to our current flat 1 year ago, on the same day, we've received SSE's letter, promoting their smart meter. We thought why not, it might be one of those tech things that makes our life easier. So SSE sent a man and installed it, that was also the start of our nightmare. Fast forward, 1 year later, with countless long phone calls that solved nothing, SSE still claims:

1. they didn't receive the meter reading from us cause our floor is too high up (30th floor), so there is no signal for the smart meter - then why did you send the man to installed at first place?
2. they can't change back to the old meter for some weird reason - why? you've been saying there is no signal from our floor so what's the point keeping the smart meter?
3. the 4th man they've sent said he would let internal team know, cause based on the system, it still address our flat is using 'old meter' - wait WHAT? After 1 year + 4 guys came to check this smart meter + countless long phone calls, why on system still shows we are using old meter? Like seriously, why and how?
4. SSE started to charge us £79 per month - just because they claimed they didn't receive the correct meter reading. We are so helpless like none of the above is in our control and they are not helping or trying to solve the issue at all.

No joke, is SSE a scam? Promote a useless smart meter then start charing customer the max. per month. If you are looking for any energy supplier, I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, NOT RECOMMEND SSE. This company should be banned in the UK with this kind of ridiculous service and system.
