EDIT: There was no rising damp on the walls before Surrey Burners did the work. I have videos and photos of the rubble and sand left behind under the hearth. I had to cut the floorboards to see what was underneath. All the sand was against the wall completely bypassing the damp proof course. Due to this it absorbed all the damp from the ground and obviously passed it on to the walls. And yes, the beam was also a bad job, it was stained from installation. See attached photos and make your own conclusions. Based on my experience and the terrible customer care (including rude emails) unfortunately I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend Surrey Burners. Hopefully new customers won't have the same results and treatment as we did.

Steve quoted for a fireplace alteration and to install a wood burner, the quote was clear to understand and I thought the costs very fair.
