I recently completed a course to obtain Level 3 in technical theatre.
The course itself was incredibly well ran, the staff and tutors were very friendly and professional.
The tutours and speakers also had amazing industry knowledge ranging from behind the scenes tour management, stage crewing and established musicians.
I would highly recommend Susan French Events Ltd for their professionalism and forward thinking attitude towards a fairer, safer and equal working opportunities for everyone.

Well planned out & structured course. Informative, down to earth and helpful teachers, alongside meeting & working with industry experts. Honest & open insights into job roles. Opportunities to visit various compaies, venues etc, makes good use of breaking up the lessons from classroom based work.

One of the best experiences of my life!

Susan and the team are brilliant. I have just finished this course and the amount of experience and knowledge I have gained is crazy!! I’ve been able to get first hand knowledge and experience for skilled industry professionals (who are so generous with their time!). On my course, we have had experience in load in and load outs, backlining, guitar tech repair, power, video walls, wardrobe, lighting, looking at how tours are organised and scheduled, health and safety in the industry, as well as making touring a greener & healthier environment.

You get so many opportunities to visit sites and work with incredible, experienced tutors and build contacts. I’ve met so many like minded, passionate people.

Truly one of the best things I’ve ever done. Susan and the team are so helpful and want the best for everyone on the course. Thanks so mush Susan & team, big love to you all!

If you are interested in working in live events, do this course. I promise you won’t regret it!!

Honestly cannot recommend Susan's crew school enough! I did a 5-6 week course (fully funded), we learned all about back line tech, power, light, sound and even pyro. This was quickly followed by my first shift as local crew for the Beyonce gig at the Stadium of Light and I can't imagine how unprepared I would have been, had I not done the course. Having the exposure to practice stage set ups with Chris and Hutch in the Cluny gave me the background knowledge to get through it without an issue.

Susan is also helping us with jobs and opportunities even after finishing the course and has given us so much access to people in the industry (which is half the battle really). There's a lot of stuff packed into the 6 weeks but you can pick and choose which ones you do, although I'd recommend going to them all as its really interesting stuff.

Susan and the rest of the crew work so hard to make this an inclusive industry for everyone and change the narrative around local and touring crew. It was great to see so many women on the course and the fact that I'd met a lot of them prior to the gig made me feel so safe and reassured.

Bottom line, if you're willing to put the effort in then you should definitely contact Susan about upcoming courses and opportunities 🙂

I've just finished doing Susan's course and it has truly been a life changing experience. Being able to gain industry skills and knowledge and learning from music industry professionals, has built confidence and knowledge to go into working In the industry. It has also opened up a lot of doors for me and I can't wait to see what the future holds off the back of doing this course. If your thinking about it just go for it!

My time on the crew school was brilliant.
I had just finished my uni degree in Music Production was unsure how to go about getting into the industry. I had heard about the Susan French Events crew schools from a friend in my class and decided to give it a go. I'm so happy that I joined the crew school when I did. I've met some lovely people from the industry and made new friends, all with the same passion for live music as me!

Throughout the crew school we were able to ask as many questions as we wanted and was reassured that we'd be taken care of during and after the course. They covered a wide range of jobs in the industry, from stage crew to lighting and audio engineer. Also they covered the different aspects of gealth and safety relevent to the industry.

During my time on the course I was able to build upon my confidence and use what I've learnt from my previous education to get my name out in the industry. Since joining the crew school I've worked as a backline tech and sound engineer for a few gigs. Without being a part of the crew school I wouldn't be as half as confident in my skills as I am now.
A big thank you to Susan and all who are involved with Susan French Events, I 100% recommend this course if you are looking at getting into live sound and events!
