Nice hotel- lovely room. Fan provided due to the very hot weather. Staff friendly and helpful. They let me park my motorcycle in their secure yard rather than leave it on the street. |Food was good.|Only downside was traffic noise but it didn’t stop me sleeping and they provide ear plugs if needed.|Very good value for money

Had a Xmas gift voucher for here, never been before, used it on a wet miserable Monday night for dinner. Were greeted at reception by Dylan, who was kept busy during our visit, he showed us to our table, took our food and drink order, checked in other guests, got them seated, brought our drinks, food, made sure we were happy with the food etc, served the other customers, collected the empty dishes, glasses, served the others, poured their drinks, served their food, took payments, cleared tables, all on his own, what a guy, well done Dylan, nice to meet you sir. We had chicken tempura, and fries, with dips, both excellent, and large portions, sticky toffee pudding, another treat, the food was fabulous, definitely return at some point.

Lovely location. Beautiful sunny day. We had lunch in the garden. I noticed there were no window boxes with flowers ( which are usually there) . No umbrellas were up. They were lying on ground. Tables looked in need of a clean. Lunch was nice, but waitress recommended toffee ice-cream and when it came was vanilla with toffee sauce. She brought a glass and individual small bottle of Prosecco, but plonked it on table for us to pour.

The room was satisfactory and we had two good nights sleep. We had booked a meal in the hotel on the first night and one of the meals was a bit disappointing in size.|Also there was a distinct lack of vegetables. The breakfast next day was satisfactory but there was a distinct lack of fruit. So we passed on dinner the second night and on breakfast the day we left. Luckily there was a Coop opposite and a good fish and chip shop nearby. We stayed at this hotel so we could visit Dumfries House which was excellent.

In need of an overnight whilst our daughter played golf in mauchline we came across the Fairburn. Some reviews made us worry, however on arrival we were welcomed. The hotel is clean, welcoming and friendly. We had a spacious family room and needed nothing else. Ear plugs given as there were a few Lorry’s that passed by during the night. However they were not required. We enjoyed a lovely meal and the stay was great. A welcomed find.

We were travelling home to Glasgow from Drumlanrig castle on the A76, through various South ayrshire towns. We chanced upon the Fairburn in Mauchline town centre. The hotel has a nicely furbished
restaurant with a secluded garden dining area. We were told the place was busy and there would be a 15 minute wait. We ordered drinks and waited 15 mins for those and menus to arrive. We ordered, then waited an endless 40 mins for food to arrive. This is of course, unacceptable and was a pity, as it spoiled an otherwise good experience. Food was excellent and the staff were apologetic, friendly and helpful. Luckily we were in no great rush but when asked about our dining experience, i honestly had to point out that service times needed vast improvement.
A further 20 min wait for Desserts, didnt help. With service improved this would be an excellent dining experience in nice surroundings.

Popped in for lunch with the kids on a rainy day. Lovely homemade food, family friendly, good value and welcoming. Strongly recommend and would go back again.

We booked a table for 8 for dinner. Absolutely abysmal service. Asked for water for the table which arrived in 2 jugs, without any glasses to pour the water into, glasses were requested 4 times and took over an hour to arrive at the table. The menu advertised a gluten free option which was requested and then could not be provided as the chef said it could not be made as a gluten free option. The wine ordered was a Chilean Merlot and a South African Merlot which as provided, and as the waitress did not pour at the table we did not realise until after when we reviewed the bottle. The wine provided was not on their menu. Side dishes did not arrive and were still charged on the bill. Food was bland, uninspired and with the appalling service there is nothing to recommend dining at this establishment. We couldn’t even leave when we wanted to, as the one waitress on duty could not be found. Please save yourself the disappointment and spend your hard earned cash with a business who values their customers.
