Invaluable asset to the village - I love being able to buy fresh fruit and veg in sensible quantities without loads of plastic packaging. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's a much nicer experience than battling your way around a supermarket. The fresh orange juice is a gamechanger...

Bring a shareholder helps, but despite my interest, it is good enough for me to shop there most weeks for vegetables, fruit, bread, fish, dried fruit, Jam's and a mirriad of health foods
It's a community shop, and was bought by public subscription when it's previous owners retired. Been running a few years now despite a cheap suoermarket being close by. Good staff and produce knocks spots off the price checked opposition. Never mind the width, but aways feel the quality. Been running around 16 years and my money is safe in the hands of our great staff.
If you're skint then sometimes you don't have to pay!

The world needs more places like this. Great produce and lots of locally sourced produce too, they will buy veg that you grow to sell on. Also a large range of plastic free produce. And you can take your own refillable bottles and containers to replenish your nuts, seeds, hygiene and detergents etc. I'm certain that there is even no heating, even in winter, which is brilliant so that you are not wasting energy.

The more people support projects like this the better for all of us. Well done to all involved in the project.

What a great community shop with friendly helpful staff. A brilliant selection of green grocery, cheese, healthfood, vegan and much more. A real treasure trove of provisions in such a small space. Shopping here is a real pleasure in a calm safe environment. Really enjoyed the haggis on Burns night.

Lovely clean shop, friendly staff and probably the cheapest Longley Farm yogurts in Huddersfield. Only my 2nd visit but will be going much more in future.
Like the fact that it's run as a community-owned co-operative and sells a local produce wherever possible.

Fantastic range of foodstuffs from local and super-local growers & suppliers, plus fresh fish, yummy cakes, cheese and other goodies.

The staff are welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in a way that supermarkets don't allow their people to be - and GVG's prices are really competitive, in some cases lower than supermarkets. And of course GVG uses far less packaging, so what we pay for is quality food, not fancy wrapping. Or TV advertising, marketing campaigns and an expensive head office.
